HDR to Steam Deck
It seems that the latest client update has Added support for full HDR to HDR streaming when streaming from a Windows PC using NVIDIA or AMD hardware acceleration to another Windows PC or Mac with an HDR display. The computer receiving the stream must have Enhanced 1080p or 4K enabled in the Steam Remote Play advanced client settings.

No matter what I've tried on my PC I can't send HDR to my Steam Deck at all - I've got HDR all enabled on my desktop but the steam deck won't show HDR and any HDR game then ends up being too dark

I'm on an Nvidia 4090

I can attest to this. The client doesn't get an HDR stream. Host has HDR enabled in Windows display settings as well as in-game. Enhanced 4K enabled on client.

Games tested: Cyberpunk 2077, Baldurs Gate 3
Host: RTX 3080, Windows 11
Client: MacBook Pro 14 2023 (built in miniLED display), macOS Sonoma

Yeah real shame that it doesn't seem to work

+1, doesn't make any sense why we can't stream HDR to a Steam Deck OLED or a Steam Deck docked to an HDR display.

Latest Steam Link beta for Android has HDR streaming so hopefully soon. You can use Moonlight and Sunshine for HDR in meantime. Guardians of the Galaxy looked glorious

Anything new since December '24 regarding this?

Got a SteamDeck OLED and an OLED-capable monitor on my Windows PC, yet the SteamDeck does not show “HDR” when streaming through steam.
I've only been using stable but not yet that I've seen. It's in the Steam Link app/Remote Play but not SteamOS. You could try the Linux flatpack through desktop interface as an experiment, Deck might be supported better that way but idk if that has HDR. But Moonlight/Sunshine is still workaround for streaming HDR to Deck. It's not built-in as nicely and requires an app but works fine at 90 fps with less latency.
