How to stream on a higher resolution that the main PC ?

Dear All,

I would like to stream from my main PC (on a 3440x1440 monitor) to my home Cinema PC which is on my 4k TV.

It works very well through 1 Gb Ethernet but the issue is that it seems I am limited to 2560 x 1440 max resolution. I think it's due to the physical limitation of my main PC screen (1440 height).

Is there a way to overpass this limitation and stream in 4k (3 840 × 2 160) on my TV ?
I try with steam option in "remote play" parameters but don't succeed...?
Do I miss something ?
Or would it be a way to setup a "virtual" monitor on my main computer with 3840x2160 resolution to use ?

I had the same problem like you. Even worse, as my PC display is only 1080p, and I wanted to stream to my 4K TV.

Just tested on Baldur's Gate 3 : Only small issue is that I have a green screen on the first windows before launching the game itself (kind of Larian launcher) but I can pass it from the main computer and then it seems to works perfectly with the full TV resolution.
Great to play on TV in the sofa when wife and kids are busy on something else !

use gpu control panel, create the unsupported res/refresh rate, and enable gpu scaling

in steam settings, remote play, change res to match client

The problem didn't happen again (only the first time I launched BG3 ???), but I will check my current parameters and try on other games if needed. Thanks a lot !

I had it sometimes some days ago, but not anymore. Maybe it was fixed with an Steam update?
