Remote Play not showing overlay

I am unsure if this affects another game, but the example I am using is the standalone launcher of Dungeon Fighter Online, which has its own launcher. This is being streamed to my steam deck

So basically my issue is this: Pressing the steam guide button or pressing the More button does not show their respective overlays. They open, BUT for them to show up to have to hold Steam, then move the mouse for it to pop up. But after a second, or making ANY input on the spawned screen, it disappears right away. It is still open, it will not just stay on screen.

This is very problematic since I need to tinker with my controls every now and then. Another big problem is that this affects the on-screen keyboard, robbing me of the ability to chat ingame.

This overlay works normally on Steam Deck, and on my actual PC. But it does not work as intended if it is being streamed.

How do I fix it.

what client type/device/app?

on steam desktop client windows pc
steam -> settings -> remote play -> advanced client options
enable performance overlay, or set controller overlay button hold

for some apps or steam link hardware
link menu -> settings -> streaming -> advanced
enable overlay and config its button combo

I'm having the same issue. It also won't show performance overlays.
