Remote Play Together crashes 5 seconds after startup (on the connecting user).
I start the game from my computer and invite my friend to play with me via Remote Play Together (the game supports this feature), he clicks the "Join" button, Steam shows that he is logged into the game, but after 3-5 seconds it crashes and so on every time.
My friend has an old computer.
Intel E9400 + GTX 550 TI + 6GB

Please help me to solve this problem or give me your opinion why this may not work :lunar2020thinkingtiger:

I don't know if this helps but in other threads people suggested to disable hardware encoding or decoding which can be found in steam setting>remote play>advance host/client configuration option.

But I am not sure if this works because I haven't tried this method.

what os does your friend have?

win 7 may not connect to win10
or win 10 may not be happy with the core2 quad cpu/board
550ti should work upto dx11

very old build, may be dusty
have him watch temps, if its going near 70c it may be overheating and crashing/shutting down to protect itself

socket 775 i think 70c was the max on those

we assembled the computer and installed everything from scratch. My guess is why nothing worked on the old build - some codecs are not supported by the processor
