what is host and client?
Client is Steam OS (Steam Deck)
Over wifi (6)
I'm not looking for solution here, I have a workaround that works well, just want to see if anyone else has the same issues, of if it is my local router,.
if ping is over 10ms, make sure wifi isolation is disabled, and any vpn is disabled, and windows network is set to private not public
also post the streaming_log.txt from host
found where steam is installed ..\steam\logs
Ping remains always below 10ms
Interestingly when i turned on the stats overlay, the issue did not happen. I had to turn it off and go back to the icon display again to capture a log of the problem.
To provide context,
I load the game stream on my steam desk, the game seems to have a stutter framerate at the login page (of the game) and the continues to feel stuttery once in game.
Now I use the workaround. On the steam desk I open the steam menu, remote play options then select video "balanced" (the same as the current setting) once i select this this seems to refresh the stream connection and I can then play the game without further issue, the log hopefully captures this as well.
its cap and encode and network times look good
avg bandwidth is very low 3m/s but that may be due to its slow framerate and low capture res
on host, is it set to change desktop res to match client?
1280x800
try creating the custom res in nvidia control panel
and enable gpu scaling so it will display properly on the host
The odd thing for me was that the overlay being set to show full stats prevented the issue from happening, it may be the overlay itself is the problem when in status mode, so I'll also try disable this and see if the problem happens.
I tried some experimenting based on the suggestions today.
Auto resolution switching on the host was not enabled; I enabled it and still got the stutter effect.
Hardware Decoding: was enabled on both host and steamdeck client: I disabled on the host first, and still got the sutter effect. Then I disabled on the client, as you suggested @Mateo, this seems to have resolved the stuttering frame rate. So it looks like the steamdeck gpu decode is the issue switching to the cpu corrects the problem, thankyou both for the suggestions.
