Streaming from 32:9 monitor to 4K TV Help

Please for the love of God someone who has up to date information help me out 😂

I’m streaming from a 32:9 ultrawide monitor to a 4K Samsung TV via Steam Link app on Apple TV. How do I get the resolution to stop being so wonky?! Sometimes big picture will open in 32:9 making everything impossible to see on the TV, sometimes it’ll open in 1080p, therefore locking my game (MH Rise currently) at 1080p.

What settings do I need to set to just allow Steam Big Picture to fit my TV’s resolution when starting up and again when in a game.

I really want to enjoy big picture on my couch but at this point it’s like I spend hours trying to get this working when I could just be a bit less comfortable sitting at my desk but actually playing.

steam -> settings -> remote play -> [advanced host options]
tick change res to match client

if the client res is unsupported on host
use gpu control panel and add it
