How do I open the Remote Play Together session bar in Big Picture Mode?

So because Remote Play is currently down for whatever reason, I've had to use Big Picture Mode to use Steam Remote Play to invite a friend to my game and give him control (because he doesn't have a controller). When I invite my friend to the game, the Remote Play Session menu automatically opens, but for some reason, it only opens on the first invite. After that, it only opens briefly before closing, which isn't enough time to give my friend control. Is there a menu option or button I can press to open this menu so I don't have to hope and pray the first invite works for my friend? Thanks to all who help.

Same problem - this happened around the Jan 25th update. Nothing was said and it quietly got fixed a few days later. Now suddenly it's back!!!! This is kinda nonsense that it broke again. I can't get the controller overlay window to come up, it crashes in the background. I'm sure no one will say anything, but this is really frustrating!

1. Open Steam in Big Picture mode
2. Start your Remote Play Together game
3. Take a screenshot in the game or ask your friend to send you a message
4. Shift+tab to open the Steam Overlay (in Big Picture mode)
5. Navigate to Home
6. Click on the screenshot notification (bell icon) located top right
7. Now you have the Quick Access menu opened
8. Navigate to Steam Remote Play Together tab
9. Invite your friend and give him mouse and keyboard access
10. Enjoy
