Optimal Steamlink
Hello everyone,

I recently acquired an Nvidia Shield Pro for playing Steam Link locally via my PC.

My PC setup is decent: "RTX 3090 + R7 5800." I've been testing various settings, but I have some doubts because currently, the most optimal setting I've found is to disable hardware encoding. I'm achieving around 30-40ms of latency with unlimited bandwidth

Does this seem good to you? Is there room for improvement? I should also mention that I'm playing at 1440p on my 4k tv. In my tests, I've noticed very little difference in quality between 1440p and 4k (likely thanks to Nvidia's AI upscaling).

If you have any optimization tips, I'd appreciate them.
Thanks !

30-40 is kinda high for lan
make sure its using direct connection

disable any vpn
windows network is set to private
routers wifi isolation is disabled
steam -> settings -> remote play -> allow direct = all/auto/my not disabled

If you have delay in controls, lower limit bandwidth, good internet 20 or 30 mbps, bad internet 5 - 10 mbps, raise this value you get better video but worst controlls

Thank you for your messages,

everything is fine on that front : no vpn, network set on private, no routers wifi isolation (and I'm wired), remote play -> allow direct.

In your opinion, how many more milliseconds should I aim for?

How much bandwidth did you set?

steam is set to unlimited or 50mb/s for 1080p
it uses around 30-50mb/s for fast moving games
host location has 50mb upload
