Steam remote play with steam controller on iPad
I'm trying to play a game with the steam controller on an iPad. The app detects the steam controller and everything works. I start remote play and everything works. Then any game I open changes the configuration to remote play touch controls and the steam controller stops working.

When I change the configuration to gamepad (which I know is the configuration for the touch controls) then a/b/x/y behave correctly for the touch screen. But the steam controller's a/b/x/y are all wrong. B appears to be mapped to escape on a keyboard (holding it makes the steam pop-up saying "hold escape for..." something or other)

Is there any way to get it to recognize the controller in-game?

each controller can have its own mappings for each game

on host
steam -> library -> select game -> gear -> properties -> controller -> allow steam input

begin streaming -> steam -> library -> controller config -> select controller -> browse configs -> pick default and apply

the 'hold esc for ...' is for the overlay on steam
on host steam -> settings -> remote play -> [advanced client options]
and also in link app -> settings -> streaming -> advanced

link apple forum will be more helpful

Where is select game? Under steam settings there's Account, Family, In-game, etc. No select game.

In-game doesn't have a gear section

Oh thanks for linking to the apple forum. Apparently it's been an issue since mid December and apparently it's still unresolved

oops, steam -> library -> select game

Ooh OK, trying that now.

Nah, didn't work. I think it's an apple thing. Same issue.

Did this as a workaround. It's not ideal at all, but it works assuming you stay close to your host pc.

Plug in steam controller dongle to PC and connect steam controller to that.
Use Moonlight to stream instead of steam link. That way steam doesn't override the controls.
As long as you stay in range of the dongle, it works.

If you use the steam link app even with the controller plugged in to the pc via the dongle, it still won't work.
