Tablet support?
Hello,

I'm very interested in this feature since I have a powerful PC on the first floor, but it's too hot during summer to play there. I would very much like to stream my games, but since it's already an expensive piece of hardware I'm not going to buy another laptop.

Is there any news on this feature being able to stream to tablets already? Maybe in the near future?

As I see it streaming features like this or maybe even the similar function of Microsoft's app are only interesting for streaming from a powerful desktop to sizable tablets or maybe an eternet enabled TV; this in conjunction with a controller or other peripherals.

Any tips or alternatives are welcome.

If your tablet is Windows and x86 based, it's just a matter of installing Steam and going on from there. On the other hand, if it's Android based, you could try Remotr. It's pretty functional, and even has options to use on screen buttons to simulate a controller. Not sure if it's available for iOS though

if you have a tablet and a nvidia graphics card moonlight is the option for you it will let you stream games to your tablet its on the play store

As already stated it works with just installing on x86 tablets. But you should be aware that performance extremely differs from game to game. (I don't mean hardware hunger)
For example Dishonored or Borderlands I can stream with almost no lag and pretty much full fps, but others like Overload or Deus Ex are faster slideshows for no apparent reason.
Seems inhome streaming has it's problems with some game engines.

Well I have an iPad Air, which is x64 as far as I known. I'll check out this Moonlight thing then, thanks anyway.

x64 cpu instruction sets also support the x86 ones. So it works on these systems too.
It's worth giving steam inhome a chance with whatever you plan to play, but if it doesn't work out there's no real chance tweaking it to acceptable levels. (seems for example UE1 in general causes a lot of hiccups to S-IH-S)

I had Steam on my iPad for a while now, there's no Stream function on it, I guess iOS doesn't support it yet.
The Moonlight app on the other hand works quite good, apparently my network can handle 1080p streaming. But it does disable the Xbox controller, which is a bummer because tablet on-screen controls suck.

Oh, Apple... yeah that's another story indeed. Overread that you wrote ipad...
Nice to hear moonlight/gamestream works well.
As I'm about buying a new system I'm also having a look at graphics cards ofc. And as that streaming is nvidia specific it would be an important factor for me.
You don't by chance have Undying or some other UE1-based games installed, or tested already?
Or the steam Overload playable teaser demo?
Would love to know if gamestream works better for them than S-IH-S does.

I don't have any of the games installed, but Moonlight is pretty straightforward.

It works best with games that have support for Nvidia Shield, Nvidia has a list of those games ( https://shield.nvidia.com/game-stream). As far as I can tell this app just uses that software and makes your tablet act as a Shield device.
Audio was glitchy on some titles, but that could be my connection.

Basically the thing that bothered me from using it was the inability to use my Xbox controller with it, even within wireless connection range of the desktop. It somehow disables other input devices except mouse and keyboard.

M/K work fine even if it's wireless for example, but you'd also need good signal. But the range on my bluetooth M/K was not good enough, default onscreen controller just isn't for me.

Performance is highly dependant on you network! All-in-all it's fine, but I'd really like to see some first party software. Considering it's free to download you might as well try it.

Yeah, I know of these facts.
That's actually exactly why I'm interested in this. With S-IH-S I can stream FO4 1080p over my wifi with ~60 fps and 100-150 ms inputlag. Ok for me. But some games deliver extremely poor performance with way less than 30 fps in 800x600, like said UE1 games, overload demo, and some others. So I doubt it's a non-software issue. That's why I'm looking for informations about it, as that feature is hardwarebound, and the officially supported list of games is quite short.
