Any way to stop Steam from defaulting to streaming for locally-installed games?
I've got both a laptop and a desktop I keep signed into Steam. Any time I install a game on the laptop, the desktop switches from "play" to "stream" even if the game's installed locally, and it's really freaking annoying. It's also annoying that the library list shows "stream" games the exact same as installed games in the list. That's burned me a couple times when I lazily checked "installed" games before leaving with the laptop, and then getting wherever I was going and realizing it wasn't installed, just available for stream.

Are you playing the game on the laptop when this happens? When the game is installed on both systems, the default will be to join the stream if one side is running the game.

If you never want to stream, both of your issues can be fixed by disabling streaming (from the settings) on either system.

The problem is, I do want to stream - but only when I ACTUALLY CHOOSE to, not when Steam gets it in its head that I do. I use the laptop on occasion to hook up to a big TV I've got in another room.

As for your question: Am I playing the game on the laptop when I have the issue? Nope. However, it seems to like to do it when I've *played* the game on the laptop at any point since I last played it on the desktop. I'll use Terraria as my example since it's my most recent issue - I'm on the desktop playing a non-Steam game, I let my little brother borrow my laptop, he starts and plays Terraria. Not long after he stops playing Terraria I go to get on Terraria on the desktop, it tries to stream from the laptop.
