there are steam link apps for windows/pc/andriod/apple/linux/tvs/pi
streaming pc to pc uses remote play
there really is no diff using steam client or link app
clients need to be logged into the same acct, or use friend invite
link app can be paired with any other host acct
im trying to use the steam client outside the network but it doesnt work, could that be a difference between the steam client and the app?
if the app gives a code, enter it in the host
steam -> settings -> remote play -> [pair steam link]
if the app has the host device listed, and is asking for a code
steam -> settings -> remote play -> [set security code]
it will be used to connect every remote play/link device
if streaming outside your own network, test bandwidth before connecting
if it works in the house, it should work anywhere, unless something is blocking ports or restricting bandwidth
Then which app should I use? I want to stream on my M2 mac outside the network, which one is better?
desktop clients will need to be logged into the same steam acct
desktop client on host to link app will need to be paired with host
so then im guessing there is no performance difference at all, if thats the case ill stick to the steam client since i can download games too.
