Help! I can stream games but not big picture (Linux host with Nvidia)

I have the strange behavior that streaming games is not a problem but when steam link starts the screen is black when big picture is showing on the computer. Using Steam link on my phone big picture is also not showing, bit at least i can choose a recent game before streaming starts. On my Android tv steam link client this is not the case.

So help getting big picture streaming would be great. I would make playing games on tv a lot easier.

start in desktop or bpm not recent
