FF14 Cursor Issue

This is what I posted on the FF14 discussion page and I still have not gotten a single reply

So i've been using steam remote play for almost a year now to play ff14 and suddenly three days ago the cursor turned tiny and whenever I left click the cursor disappears and goes into a state of constantly moving the camera kinda like if you hold down right click. If I regular remote connect to the machine cursor is fine and when I go to the machine physically its fine. The cursor works fine in menus but as soon as I try to target using left or right click just does not work. No controller. My dummy mouse on my main machine is a 502 Hero and my mouse I use is a 502 hero but theres no logitech updates. Tried a couple other games and no cursor issue. Did steam remote play update or something? Any troubleshooting would be welcome

It's not just FF14. It's also happening with the Sims 4. I thought I was the only one with the left click cursor getting 'stuck', but there's also a bug report by 2 other folks with the same problem (one of them also playing S4) via Remote Play. It started for me on the 20th. It's so frustrating. The only way to 'unstick' it and get the cursor back is to press 'Tab'. But it's really awkward. I imagine it's even more frustrating for ppl who play action games.

Game is impossible to play and the new expac comes out on the 3rd. ♥♥♥♥ sucks man it truly does

are you using windows or gpu display scaling?

and is the host set to match the res of the client

For me, no gpu display scaling of any kind. Before whatever update that suddenly made the left click cursor go haywire, the resolutions didn't have to match -- it worked fine. I updated to have them match yesterday, cus I thought maybe that was the problem, but it didn't make a difference on my end.

Neither to both. Res is both 1920x1080

check the games input settings
if using a k/m it should work with no problems
controller mapped as k/m can cause some problems

steam -> library -> select game -> gear -> properties -> controller tab, enable input steam mapping
steam -> library -> select game -> gear -> ??? -> controller config
select the controller and browse configs, pick a default

I dont even own a controller dude. Im streaming the game from my desktop to a laptop both with keyboard and mouse

Same here. There's no controller involved, just keyboard and mouse.

Manged to fix it by changing my expanded mouse functionality settings to software cursor. I wonder if sims has a similar option. No idea what caused it though. Asked a few people in game and they are all on FF14 hardware custom. If steam remote play updated recently it must have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ with that specific compatibility

Yeah having this same issue on Sims, Guild Wars 2, and just about anything that has a click and drag function.

It's a new bug, across many games. It's been happening in the past 1-2 weeks. The left click gets stuck down, and nothing short of ending the session and restarting it fixes it.

It aint just click and drag since for me EU4 works perfectly fine. Specifically FF14 for me. I wonder what changed. Maybe a certain mouse build problem

I'm experiencing the issue in For the King as well btw. So it's not just isolated to FF14

Yee luckily ff14 had a work around but it seems other games dont. My guess is certain games have different ways to process mouse inputs and steam remote play updated and screwed over those certain ways. Thats just a baseless theory though my only evidence being that the games it affects seem to be random

mark this as a solution so others can find it faster
i was unaware of some of the advanced client options for mac

but posting host and client os/specs is very useful
ex. i cant stream to this thing, (client is empty shoebox)
