Intel Quick Sync Encoding
Hey,
I've been trying for months to get Intels Quick Sync Encoding to work for my in home streaming setup.
I've just recently had to upgrade my PC, and STILL, even with a new mobo and CPU, Quick Sync doesn't work.
I currently have an Intel i9 10850K paired with an ASUS ROG Strix Z490-E.
I have Intel iGPU-Multimonitor enabled in the BIOS, I have the latest drivers installed for my iGPU, which is the UHD Graphics 630 with the Intel Graphics Command Center installed.
I've ran stability testing with Real Bench, I've tested out Handbrake and ensured QSV was an option and enabled.
I installed OBS and checked to see if QSV was on the list of options to use for encoding, which it was.
I'm thinking it may be a Steam issue, but I am not entirely sure.
I've spent hours / days on search engines trying to find anyone with a similar problem, but can't.
I've contacted Steam Support to see if they can help me, but they haven't been able to give me a straight answer.
Anyone else have the same processor and motherboard? ( Intel i9 10850K, Asus ROG Strix Z490-E)
I really want to offload the encoding on my CPU, and leave the GPU to do it's thing.
At least until I can get my hands on an RTX 3080Ti, but we all know how likely that'll be.

Anyways, any advice or feedback would be greatly appreciated.
I'd love to get that Quick Sync to encode for my remote play sessions.

Thanks.

Edit: I have enabled iGPU encoding on the host.
It still goes straight to software encoding.

I have the same problem. Core i5-6500 / Intel HD 530 Graphics. Driver version 27.20.100.9466 . Steam client Jun 8, 2021. I can do x265 on Parsec.

But enabling iGPU encoding does not work at all. Anybody have a solution? Thank you!

I have an Intel N4000 and Quicksync encoding doesn't work for me either running in Windows. Even in Linux where hardware encoding supposedly got added to the steam client using VAAPI(Linux hardware enc/dec) doesn't work at all.

I can get Sunshine Streaming working with VAAPI which uses the Intel GPU and using Moonlight as the client, but Linux has been a major pain trying it these past months....sigh.

I'm having the same problem. If I'm reading this right, the solution appears to be up to Valve.

I am having same issue. But it only happens when I access steam from my raspberry pi clients. From steam link hardware, and my iphone quicksync works. And from steam link hardware it works.
