How can I force Steam Link to use my controller instead of touch controls?

(I'm not sure if this is the right forum, sorry if it's not, but...)

My plan was to use my tablet to stream from my PC to my TV.
And it works fairly nicely, except for Sega Mega Drive / Genesis Classics.

For some reason, that collection forces Steam Link to use my tablet's touch screen controls. While I can turn off the touch screen, it won't allow me to use my controller, regardless.
Obviously, that causes an issue if I'm trying to use the tablet as a linking device and not as a controller.

Is there a way I can override the touch controls, or the game settings, or Big Picture, so I can make it use my controller instead?

If your gamepad supports Bluetooth then try connecting it to your tablet directly.
