Origin: A Way Out, Shield does not detect second controller?

Using the wireless XBOX 360 dongle connected to my Shield we are able to play two player games like Road Redemption with Steam Play no problem but this has been less successful with A Way Out.

I added the A Way Out executable as a non steam game to my library but when it does launch successfully from the Shield it does not detect any controller. I then tried playing it through Nvidia's own Gamestream (from my Windows 10 PC) and although it detects one controller it will not detect the second and instead prompts for keyboard input for Player 2.

Is there something I can do to make this work?

You need to either have multiple controllers from your end OR choose the gamepad configs of all players and then running in Big Picture. If that doesn't work then blame Valve for sucking.
