How to stop games running with remote play?
Hello everybody ;

I am currently facing a problem with Remote play that I'll try to describe the best I can :

I have been out of home for more than a week now, staying at my parents place for the holiday, where I can access a PC with steam installed. My own PC was left shutdown at my place and everything was going fine untill yesterday.

For a couple of days the only games I could access where those installed on my parents computer, as my own PC is supposed to be inaccessible at the moment. But when I logged into steam yesterday I could see the games installed on my very own PC in the library (although they are not installed here). This got me wondering how ?

So I tried launching one of those games (Evil within 2, which I had never launched before) and could access the log in screen of my own computer but got stuck there because of a "Steam input" message box I couldn't get past (can't click the "Ok" or "cancel" buttons for some reason). Got rid of the session using task manager and then the aforementioned game was tagged as "launched" in my library.

Tried launching another one (12 is better than 6), same problem occured : got stuck at the message box and had to manually shut down the session with task manager. First game didn't stop from running, and now both games are tagged as "launched" in my library.

At that time it didn't bother me too much : I had other things to do so I left steam guessing the problem would somehow solve by itself. The playtime for both games didn't seem to increase so I just thought it was some kind of interface bug that would stop sooner or later.

Today I logged back on steam and noticed the 2 games were still running. Now I have 20 hours of "playtime" on a game I never launched (and 20h+ on another game I only really played for about 2 hours)...! Not that it bothers me so much, but I would rather have it stop now because I only get back home in 4 days... :steamfacepalm:

Any idea how I can get this done ? I can't do it through streaming because of the message box I can't get passed.
I tried with my tablet (using Steam link app) but it says my PC is offline.... (Fair enough, but why is it suddenly accessible via my parents' PC then ?)

Many thanks in advance if you can help me through this :steamhappy:

Ok so I managed to stop 12 is better than 6 from running ! :steamhappy:

Had to deactivate Remote play in steam settings so I could install the game on my parents' computer and launch it here. I had the message box saying another session was already running and could shut it off from here.

Guess I'll just have to do the same with Evil within 2 now (only 30Go to go... :steammocking:)

And now I can't see my own PC anymore when I reactive Remote play in the settings... How so is still a mistery to me..? :steamsad:

For that message box, if you install TeamViewer on both computers, you can click that box via TeamViewer. It normally only has to be done once for each game that requires it (which is a lot of them but not all of them). You can't do it via Remote Desktop in my experience but Teamviewer works.

Regarding stopping games, if you actually connect to them properly and then exit they will quit properly. However, if you end up stuck on that screen, you can only quit them via going into the computer via TeamViewer or Remote Desktop, then closing the program (e.g. by right-clicking on it on the taskbar).
