Everyone controls the same character
Hello all. Tried playing 2 different games with remote play, we both have the same controls and control the same character (cuphead and tales of symphonia) I'm using gamepad and hes using his k+m as he doesnt have access to one at the moment. Does the host HAVE to use k+m or am i doing something wrong? Thank you.

depends on the game i guess, there is no difference who uses the keyboard because for the game logic it is all local input anyways. Maybe these games dont support this kind of setup of one player kb+m and one player gamepad for co-op. You can test it yourself without remote play if you are able to control two players with your gamepad plugged in.

I was under the thought, that Player 1 is suppose to setup the Controls for Player 2,
am I wrong?

It is virtually almost like Playing a Game on your Desktop with 2 people on the same
Computer...

You setup the whole Game for 2 Players, yourself, the Player 2 then afterwards jumps in,
just as you would over a thing called Team Viewer, or Quick Assist on Win10, or
Remote Desktop Connection on Win10...

Simular situation...

Player 1 would handle all the Configurations, & Player 1 is the Host, so
Player 2, just plays, & does no Setting up whats so ever...

You have to think of it as if you connect all the devices to the same pc. Try plugging in multiple keyboards, sure they all work and you'll see multiple keyboards connected but in-game it will just see it as "keyboard input". While gamepads are seen as different entities and can be configured as "controller 1" and "controller 2".

So options are as follows (for most games I assume):
-Host keyboard, partner gamepad,
-Both gamepad.

I am just assuming and guessing how it works. I assume games have to add support to differentiate those keyboards.

This is correct. cannot play (from all the games ive tested) with both using keyboard, the person getting shared to has to use a gamepad, but even then some games are still a bit odd and dont support this feature fully.. it just released afterall.

It was already in beta for a bit. But this is a tricky thing to do. It's already hard in general to differentiate on your own pc between keyboards, so for steam to do AND games seems extremely hard and unlikely.

Best to just use controllers for this feature. At best 1 keyboard for the host.

It took me ages to figure out, there's a button you have to press to get it to co-op. I don't know what it is on keyboard but on xbox controllers its the menu button. If it's not the menu button, button mash on any controller or keyboards, and see if you can find the button that connects you to the separate character or object. You can use all the keyboards or controllers you want to at the same time. I tried this on rocket league with a friend, but I don't know if it'll work for cuphead.
