Cheap usb wifi adapter or cheap router?
so ive been fiddling with steam in-home streaming using moonlight to my phone. i can turn the streaming bandwidth up to about 4 Mbps before i start getting noticeable stutters. was thinking about upgrading to 802.11ac to turn the settings up. ive found a basic ac router on newegg for $40, but there's also the tiny usb wifi adapters. could i use one of those cheaper ($15) usb plugs to create a network just for my phone to connect to and share the internet through my pc with it? i dont really need the faster wifi for anything else in the house besides this situation, but if steam wont play nice, or if the usb idea will require some fiddling every time i want to play, the router isnt really that much more expensive. thoughts?

I would go for a router. Those USB sticks normally are not able to span an ad-hoc WiFi, espacially not the cheap ones.
