So good question. Port forwarding should help lower network latency but it opens those ports for all devices on that network. Your router may allow prioritisation of ports for specific apps to specific devices individually.
Also applying specific QoS rules enabled by the "prioritise network traffic" button can also help lower network latency Which is local network configuration related too, but no explanation or recommendation is shared in official documentation.
And using different DNS may help ensure Valves backbone is used as route to Valve servers.
Hopefully somebody else can help clarify how we can better optimise our local network if using a modern gaming spec router for Steam Remote Play.
