I've also found certain games will not let your friend connect if you're at the games menu. Try in game.
There's also remote play settings as well as your broadcast settings that can influence performance either by software or hardware. Like for example, use the exact number of your CPU threads and don't let it be set as "Automatic". You can try mix and matching them by either go Nvidia for example or entirely CPU or just using both.
Also I found optimizing for best quality seems to work well, but that could depend on your connection.
