Mac/OS X: Hosting is not currently supported on this platform
Mac OS Mojave, 10.14.1

Open steam, go to preferences, click "In-Home Streaming" and noticed that "Host Options" says "Hosting is not currently supported on this platform"

Unable to use the Mac to host games. Any fix?

I had this exact issue after upgrading to OS X Mojave recently. I hadn't used this feature significantly before, so unsure how long it's been broken, but I'm fairly certain it was supported in the past. I've tried streaming Mac to Mac, as well as Mac to Steam Link, and both are currently unusable.

I wish Valve would just post something about issue. They've bothered to hide a message in the settings, but why is there nothing online or why isn't it even listed on the Known Issues page.

Communication would be very appreciated Valve!!!!!

I submitted a support ticket to them but still haven't heard back. Hopefully it's something simple like a mismatched ID String they can change quickly. Would love to get this working....

I tried setting up my steam link today and spent probably about an hour trying everything I could think of to get it working before spotting this. Would like to get this sorted as quick as possible so will submit a ticket.

Thanks Tom, the more people we have sending in a ticket (hopefully) the sooner it will get resolved

Well guys, I got a response from Steam Support... and it's not good:

"In-home streaming for MacOS Mojave has been disabled by the development team.

Steam Support does not have estimate on any future changes, we apologize for the inconvenience."

Looks like Mac is no longer supported. What a shame. I can only guess this is in retaliation for Apple's unnecessary and greedy blockage of the SteamLink iOS app. :steamfacepalm:

would not have upgraded to Mojave if I knew this... come on guys, two top-of-the-line technical engineering things not working things out in 2018, what is this?

That sucks. Please support streaming from a Mac host!

Yeah but it either Kernel panics your mac or works without sound. At least for me. Exactly where I was in June this year. Nothing is fixed.

I wish Valve would either outsource the work to Rogue Amoeba? If they can't handle MacOS themeselves?

Rogue Amoeba are the MacOS audio capture wizards. Or at least Valve could steal thier method....?

Shoot sorry to hear that... I had to disable sound aswell, but its not really a problem for me since I'm using a headset or headphones anyway...

The beta versions are working for me (with sound). Hopefully this makes it into the public version soon.
I’m also using the beta. Still Kernel Panics.

Awesome. Glad I found this thread. Wish I would have found it a lot sooner... like, before I bought this thing.
If they don't fix it, I think every mac user who bought a steamlink should be given a free HL3 key.
