SOLUTION TO Windows Lock Screen and Persistent cursor while in-home stream issues
Hi
Here are two common annoying issues I had I've solved some days ago (finally!) and I want to share with you. The solution is one little piece of software for each issue (use one or both as you want). There are portable version (without installation).
Just start it when you plan to use home-streaming.

Windows Lock Screen
If you leave your PC idle for a few minutes before starting the Steam Box or Steam Link, Windows locks the PC and the in-home streaming got stuck. The only solution for this was to unlock it from the PC itself or using some remote control app.
Well, no more.

The solution is DontSleep[www.softwareok.com], who prevents Windows to enter in suspension, hybernate and the most important: prevents Windows to lock itself.
Execute to enable, close to disable. Easy peasy.
Warning: power off your monitor/monitors when you activate it.

Persistent cursor over games
Other problem I had on some games was persistent Windows cursor on the middle of the screen while using a controller. The solution was again move the mouse on the PC or with a remote control app.
The solution is AutoHideMouseCursor[www.softwareok.com], who hides the cursor if the mouse is not used in 2-100 seconds (set it to 2s).
Same as the other one, execute to enable, close to disable. This issue still can happen, with it has been greatly reduced (now only happens ocasionally).

Two little issues, but very frustrating. Simple solution, big relief.

Thank you for sharing.

What would be the benefit to using the dontsleep software as opposed to changing your power settings in control panel? There is an option to turn off the screen without putting the PC to sleep, which is what I use.

An alternative solution to the cursor issue is to alt+tab using ths steam chord combo a couple times. That works for me often.

Good question.
I want to maintain my power settings on, so it can suspend if I'm not using it, power off the monitor, HDDs, and such. And I want the lock screen too for security reasons.

But, when I want to use home-streaming, only in that case, I want something to prevent all that. So for me this is the perfect solution without permanently disable those features.
