Player 2 controls not working, both players controlling Player 1
I've been trying to play some fighting games using remote play and having a number of controller issues. My opponent is not able to use their controller (though the game does detect when they plug it in). They can only use the keyboard, and when they do use the keyboard, they end up controlling Player 1 (which I am also controlling with my own controller).

For reference, we are trying to play Blazblue Central Fiction and UNIST.

Having the same exact issue. Can we get some Valve support on this? Very frustrating to have everything work except for the game itself.

I find this issue often happens when using 2 controllers on my PC locally with a fighting game such as Soul Calibur 6.
Have you tried plugging in two controllers into your game locally to see if it works? might be game thing rather than a remote together thing.
setting up in VS mode with Controller + KB will not work properly. This has been tested many times on my end in many fighting games. both players must have Controller+ Controller or KB+KB to make VS mode work in Remote Play.
we were both controllers, but i tried it with a different person and it worked... guess theyre working out the kinks still :)

Not 100% true as it can work.

I was playing blazblue CF the other day, 1st time trying it and it worked perfectly. I was using keyboard, friend using controller.
Was a surprise cause when trying to play blazblue CT it would not work at all.

However today we went to play BBCF again and it no longer would work.
I tried everything. even multiple controllers plugged in on my side.

So yes it can work, but I have no idea what kind of condition needs to be met to make it so.

Meanwhile Tekken 7, flawless. Not sure what that game does to make it so controllers are "forced" but hey.
Same problem with Enter the Gungeon. If I tried to use m+kb, we would both control both characters. If I (Remote player) used a controller, it would work better, but we could only see player 2 (not me) crosshair. Was really looking forward to this, i'm hoping for a fix. additionally, if host used controller, we controlled both characters.

that is why I said "will not work properly" its a hit or miss if you do a controller+KB. you will just be gambling for luck. just save yourselves the headache and use 2 controllers or 2 KB. Not that hard to do with your friend if you are really friends right.

The End
Experienced the same issue with KB and a Controller while trying to co-op Tales of Symphonia. :BrokingHeart: :Colette: :Zelos:

steam itself should be able to "Lie" to the game or the windows/os that theres a nother controller like a fake driver or something tho, hope they fix this.

Same problem here with two xbox controllers.

But me and my friend tried with an xbox input and a direct input playing Fight'n Rage and it worked!

So... I think if the game supports direct input and xbox input it's possible to play with two controllers :lunar2019grinningpig:

This doesn't work either. When another controller input is added, the system thinks it is the same controller input and doesn't let it work
I'm having the same problem in multiple games. Isn't this the core of this feature? That means it's not a feature at all, Valve!
