Player 2 controls not working, both players controlling Player 1
I've been trying to play some fighting games using remote play and having a number of controller issues. My opponent is not able to use their controller (though the game does detect when they plug it in). They can only use the keyboard, and when they do use the keyboard, they end up controlling Player 1 (which I am also controlling with my own controller).

For reference, we are trying to play Blazblue Central Fiction and UNIST.

Same problem. Player 1 works fine. Player 2 has no input.

The same thing happened to me with Team Sonic Racing
don't know if you guys solved it yet, was looking into it to play SoulCalibur 6 a bit ago with a friend. Same problem all I did was restrict my friend to not having control of my keyboard and mouse and boom it works. Hope it saves someone's fun

Alright, me and my friend wanted to play Lethal League, I would invite him with remote play and as soon as he connected I couldnt use my keyboard or controller anymore. I found a solution where i would sign into steam on my other computer, launch the game there and choose to stream the game from it to the pc i would play from, then i would go back to the streaming PC and invite him, after this both of our inputs worked. Even if you dont have another spare computer maybe it could work with a VM aswell. I hope this helps you.

Kinda late to the party tho, but i had the same issue and finally figured it out after a couple of days.

- Make sure that all you guys are NOT participating in Steam beta, just opt out of beta and the host should see a controller assigned to each player.
- Any controller should work, as long as steam recognizes
- If anything else just reconnect the cable to your controller during the session, this should "pair" the controller to the stream

Have fun!

I have the same problem, how the hell is this not fixed yet!!!!!!!!!

I discovered a way to use multiple controllers over remote play together when the game requires all controllers to be plugged in/paired from the start of the game for them to function.

Before the game starts, the host needs to plug in/pair the same amount of controllers as people you want to play with. For example, if you want to play with two people, including yourself, plug in two controllers.

After the game starts, unplug the controllers that you will not be using on your end. After that, invite your friend or friends with their controllers plugged in over remote play together and all your controllers should function within the game.

This worked for me and a friend playing Metal Slug and Contra: Anniversary Collection.

I hope this works for you.

Hey all, I know this one is kinda old but I think I've found out how to resolve it.

Once you've invited your friend to the game and they're all loaded up:

- Open the steam overlay.
- In the window for the remote play you will have your name and their name or player 1 player 2.
- There will be controllers next to your names.
- You can assign player 1 player 2 by dragging and dropping the controllers.

I hope this helps some people.

I may have fixed this kind of problem for one particular game, see if your game acts the same way (a game overlaps player 1 keyboard controls with a single connected joystick)

UPDATE: hi is it too late for me to join and tell how did manage to work with mine and did it with a pirated tekken 7, Anyway heres how I did it

-Ive checked all Three controller configuration ps/xbox/generic.
-I launch the game through big picture ofcourse if you didn’t bought the game it will redirect you to its page.
-to bypass that u will open the game manually and wait for it to boot up.
and then inside the big picture invite your friends to remote play.
-see if it work, but mine works.

I just thought that I would share a quick way around.

having this issue rn did you ever find a fix
BananaJane 28 maj, 2021 @ 18:26
repluigging your controller in if you're not the one hosting works for some games
I know I'm late but I may have figured it out. It took me a few hours. But I was trying to play Adventures of Batman and Robin sega on PC and couldn't figure it out. Finally. I assigned controller 2 to MD mouse. Robin was then inserted. I then changed player 2 input to Joypad 6 button. And it worked! hope it works for you all.

I have to confirm running the game in BPM and selecting PlayStation and Xbox configs worked for me. Game I was streaming was Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing, I had an Xbox Series gamepad while my friend had a Sony DualShock 4. He didn't need any Xinput emulators so that's why I didn't go out of my way to install any myself. I refuse to buy extra controllers as a workaround when Valve breaks the time barrier to address issues about the DualSense.
