Friend can't do anything in-game
Trying to play Lego Marvel Superheroes and the game isn't getting any keyboard input from my friend whatsoever. I invite her to Remote Play, she accepts, and she can see the game, but it's like her keyboard is unplugged. Going into the control settings of the game and trying to add her keyboard doesn't do anything. Adding my arrow keys as Player 2 works on my end, but she still can't control anything. So incredibly disappointed in Remote Play. Thought it would work better than Moonlight or Parsec, but nope. Broken all the same.

We're both on Windows 10, she's on a gaming laptop, I'm on a desktop. I can post specs if needed but this looks like an issue with Steam itself.

Just wanted to add that my problem was also solved by leaving the beta.

Suddenly the remote players controller appeared and was assigned to their player immediately as they joined

I was struggling with this problem for a couple of months. Today I turned of my steam link (not the app but the device) and plugged the USB dongle directly into my pc.

So remote play together only works when I play directly with my pc and not while in-house streaming to my tv (remote play).

This evening I played while looking at my small laptop screen and laptop audio. Not really what I want, but this seems the only work around for now.

Has somebody managed to use the steam link device and use steam remote play together?
The problem (while using the steam link) with not recognizing the client controllers occurs both for my as host as wel as client..

After fudging with things for an hour, the only way I've gotten multiplayer to work correctly is if I plug in a controller into my computer and my friend plugs one into their's. Then I can use the keyboard if I wish and set the controller aside.

You have to look at it as if you are both sitting at your computer, it's not a traditional net play game. If you only have your keyboard plugged in and your friend has a controller, it's going to think it's just you playing and going to act as if one player is there even if it's both of you. When you plug in two controllers, now the game sees two players and then you can give control of one of the players to your friend.

So basically, I've only gotten it to work when I plug in a controller and my friend plugs in a controller.

This is indead the only way I've got it to work. I think it's a real fail that they didn't implement the use of the steam link device..

We cant get this to work. I have Serious Sam on my PC, i start the game and send an invite to my partner who is currently in another country. She gets the invite, and accepts it
We can hear each other and she can see the game. We start Co op, but we only see my session. She can use a controller to play, i can use the keyboard but we only get the one "player" - if she uses the controller it overrides what i am doing?

We try RE6 and L4D2 with my husband and it didn't work. I have the games on my laptop, my husband get the invite and accept it (on his pc), but he can only watch my game and drive me crazy with his advices, but he can't controll anything in the games. We didn't try controller, because we don't have any. So I think this Remote Play doesn't work. Sadly...

I had the same problem with LEGO Star Wars Force Awakens. I play with controller and my boyfriend on keyboard. Game launched on my PC. And he couldn't do anything. So I started game with keyboard for Player 1. Then I invited him and after he joined I changed Player 1 device to the controller. And everything works!

In short: start game where Player 1 has keyboard, invite friend, make Player 2 for them, in options change device Player 1 for controller.

I hope it works for you :)

Thank you, but as I wrote, we don't have any controllers, just keyboards and mouses :)

I don't think you can use 2 mouses on a computer

You can´t both use keyboard, any of you needs to use another controller.

I've been able to do this so it is possible. It worked the first few times but now he can't use his keyboard, nothing happens.

honestly who designed this ♥♥♥♥?

we both used a keyboard and the first time we tried my friend could only use the arrow keys and that was it. everything else didnt work. the other times we tried nothing worked at all.

Just as a general tip, most of my Remote Play issues were resolved by 2 things (this is PC to PC remote play) ... 1) I made sure video drivers were updated to the newest on both machines.... 2) Made sure Steam was run as Administrator on both machines. Suddenly all my display and mouse/keyboard issues cleared up. I'm still trying to figure out how to use a Joystick on the client to Remote Play FSX (Flight Simulator)... I haven't figured out how to pass joystick input to the host machine through Remote Play.

there seems to be issues with conflicting keyboard / controller inputs or something. I have a similar issue with several games.
I played A Way Out with friendA: he streamed and used a controller while I used the keyboard and mouse and I could play.
But, when I played A Way Out with friendB: he streamed and used a controller while I used the keyboard and mouse but I couldn't even move the mouse (as per his end)
