UWP Streaming with GloSC or UWP Hook
I recently started streaming to my IOS13 apple tv. I wanted to stream Gears of War 4 and I successfully made it happen. (with GLOSC)

Starting this thread so that people can ask questions, and solve problems with streaming UWP.

Here are my directions for getting this up and running.
So there’s 2 different paths you will take. It depends if you will use a controller with steam remote play or not. (This depends if the UWP app requires XINPUT or not)

1. UWP Hook (no XINPUT support added while streaming in Remote Play)
Download https://github.com/BrianLima/UWPHook/releases - this lets you add any UWP game to steam.

2. GloSC (Gives you XINPUT controller support while streaming with Remote Play)
This is a steam controller emulator. This lets you use an xbox/ps4 controller in UWP games. Use this app to add UWP games INSTEAD of UWP Hook. Only
Download 1 GloSC https://alia5.github.io/GloSC/
Download 2 ViGEmBus https://github.com/ViGEm/ViGEmBus/releases (this is required for GloSC to work).

I've had a few issues with GLoSc not providing the full list of appids installed through the store and game pass. Theres a workaround for this using powershell and a few commands detailed in this reddit thread:

https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamController/comments/bz78ig/quick_workaround_for_game_pass_games_windows/

Otherwise its been really stable using GLoSc and a few minutes of setup on the host. Its even fixed issues i've had with games that have elevated permissions forced like Mass Effect and some older GOG games. If there's a 3rd party launcher involved it can complicate things but pointing GLoSc to an OSOL (OriginSteamOverlayLauncher) shortcut usually does the trick with a bit of tweaking.

I've never had UWP Hook work for me with Remote Play though.

I'm trying to get Sea of Thieves to work with remote play. UWPHook allowed me to add it to my Steam library without issues, but starting it for streaming results a black screen with the game's audio. If I enable streaming mode in UWPHook the streaming server finds the UWPHook window, but the image freezes as soon as focus shifts to the game. Again I'm left with audio but nothing to see.
Any ideas what else to try?

Chais, dont assume the problem is UWP hook. I have these issues occassionally with the SteamLink app connecting to my win10 laptop with rtx2060. If you are running SteamLink or Steam itself in BETA mode, try going back to Stable

Thanks for the guide!
I've successfully setup Glosc to stream Ori and the blind forest from Xbox Gamepass.
I've set the game in fullscreen so the stream is not windowed.
This is my working settings for Glosc:
- Uncheck "Enable Overlay" or you will get a black screen when you stream
- Check "Enable virtual controllers", this will do the trick to send the controller input
- Uncheck "Use desktop config"
- Check "Launch game" ( use a link per game )
- Check "Close shortcut when launched Application closes" this will prevent to be stuck on a blank blue steam big picture screen when you close the game
Unfortunetaly the steam overlay not work.

I've tryed UWPHook, the stream work (there's also an option in the settings to improve steam in-home stream) but the only way to get the controller recognized is to use VirtualHere.

Thanks Daniele. I will also like to add that I found out how to add games that are not in the GLOsc list. All you have to do is find the AppID for the game and insert it into GloSC "Path" field.

For example. Minecraft Dungeons is Microsoft.Lovika_8wekyb3d8bbwe!Game

This is what worked for me thanks. Weirdly the sound didn't work until I selected auto mute when game is in backgorund?

This has worked reasonably well for me trying to play xbox game pass games on my steam link. The only thing is if my controller runs out of battery or is somehow disconnected I have to restart the game to get it to recognize the controller again. Does anyone else have this issue, and more importantly a fix for it?

Thank you!! This has worked for me. Question though, when I close out of save game (End Game) I get pushed back to Steam Big Picture (which I want) but the game is still playing in the background. The only solution I've found is to quit the game from the game menus which closes out fine. Any idea how to get everything to close by just clicking "End Game" through Steam?
