Client keeps disconnecting, stays on network, but says desktop "is not available for streaming."

So I am consistently having issues while streaming from my gaming desktop to my laptop. On multiple games, the game will randomly cut out, and the client laptop will return to my Steam library, and there will be a pop up in the corner that my host desktop "is no longer available for streaming."

If I walk over to the desktop, the game is still running. Before the disconnect, I had not noticed any latency, dropped frames, or anything indicating a network issue there was a network problem. Both PCs still show online to the network as well. However Steam won't let me start streaming again until I restart the Steam app (usually by swapping between online and offline mode).

This issue has always happened to me since I first started streaming back during the beta. Both my laptop and desktop have been replaced (due to age) followed me across PCs, so either I'm using a bad setting on my computers or it's something with my router, but I'm not sure what I should try to fix it. I feel a little over my head with troubleshooting, so while I've done some searching through support articles, I've haven't done much besides turn on and off different features on both the host and the client.

I don't suppose you've been copying your Steam installation from computer to computer? When I first started streaming it worked awfully, but it turned out I had a "dirty" installation of Steam that had some invalid files etc from before streaming was implemented. Keep your game files of course (you can still backup your steamapps folder between installs), but I recommend a fresh Steam install if you haven't done it lately.

No, I can give a reinstall a try.

For both the laptop and the desktop, Steam is installed normally on the C: drive. But on the desktop I have most of my games set up on my D: drive (a HDD) and only a select few open world games installed on C: (gives better load times). If re-install doesn't help, I'll see if there is a difference between games on C: and games on D:.

I have such problem. I could start the translation on my laptop yesterday. But today i can`t see my PC on steam in laptop. Did you describe the problem?

WOW WOW WOW i described this problem!!111 You need to tag out and in the button "Turn on traslation" on your PC and after this you can see the computer on laptop.!!!))))
