The Shadows of Pygmalion

Just a few information on the game for those wanting details before jumping in since it is pretty pricey:

1.) It's a pure visual novel through and through, no gameplay sections.

2.) It has a really long common route, I'd say around 70% of it is the common route if I'm being generous.

Common Route - basically the part of the story that is shared between all routes. It's the part of the story that happens before it diverges into multiple, individual routes.

3.) The routes in this game aren't the traditional sort of routes you would expect.

Elaboration requires light spoilers, so: The different "routes" simply involve the perspective/point of view switching from the protagonist to whoever the heroine of that route is. i.e. If it's Jessica's route, we switch to her perspective, and so on.

Lastly, I completely recommend this visual novel through and through! The main focus of the story is not the yuri, no, but it does play a significant role in the characters' development throughout the events of the game. It has a really compelling story that is pretty uncommon in yuri games (or in VNs in general) and it integrates a few interesting concepts from real life, the most apparent one being the story of Pygmalion.

The game has a demo as well, and it's more than lengthy enough to give you a general feel of what the story is going to be like.

Lastly, I just think that it'd be really nice if this game got the attention I think it deserves. Please at least give the demo a shot!

Just a tip, the game was supposed to have a launch discount on Steam, but it doesn't currently. MangaGamer said they'll have it fixed asap.

So if you're thinking about getting this on Steam and want to save a few dollars I'd recommend waiting for that.

Uh, I have finally finished the game. And while it is great, I have some concerns about recommendation description:

1. There are four female character routes. Three normal and one unlockable.

2. I think it is overall misleading to mention routes in recommendation because routes are not related to f/f content. Relationships between girls are pretty much locked to the choice point - routes affect completely different things. It is very far from the level of Negligee.

Problem is I don't have time to play the game, but I do want to play it and don't want to be totally spoiled, and that is making the listing tricky.

I hedged and described them as "routes" rather than "love interests" because I did have the general idea that the routes were not necessarily about pursuing a romantic relationship with the girl in question.

Please do suggest some non-spoily ways to try and describe the level of content in the game! I don't want it to come across as just Cute Girls Being Cute because I'm pretty sure that's not right.

Just said it already - The Shadows of Pygmalion are subtextical/teasing type of yuri like Moekuri or is this a yuri-type of VN than we have real love/romantical interest between mc and other girls and we see how they relationships developing in story? That's all. )) No need to spoily something else. Most of people want and NEED to know only two things - how yuriish this/other VN and how good or bad general plot.

Yeah, i don't play this VN yet and i don't know how good and strong yuri in Pygmalion and how good story, but i'm planning to read VN tommorow and all conversation about "relationship here more or less like something else and not a general thing" and spoilers somehow annoying me. Maybe because it's my "not so good english and i don't understand fully what are you all talking about", maybe i await this vn very long time, maybe something else. Don't know. So, sorry if i being rude here.

When I say similar to Moekuri, I meant the curation description which is:

"Female protagonist, multiple female characters are into girls."

Which is not a spoiler (for most people), and it's an accurate description of the game. The problem though is that you still have to mention the routes that appear in-game so that people don't get blindsided by that. Calling them routes though isn't accurate either because of the reasons I put above as light spoilers.

I just say all of this in general, not only about Pygmalion and for future. Like If Hanako said if this game/vn about relationship between girls or have some yuri points, i believe her. I like that she was trying to play in the Japanese language, but as in the case with Aoi Shiro I have it does not start immediately. I hope that in the Steam version of such a mistake will not happen.

I forgot to mention one bug bear I had about this weird part of the game:

For some reason, there's too many times where the description of someone's appearance doesn't match the art...? They'd say a hair color is brown when it's obviously red; it's not even close to being brown. The more obvious ones are eye color though -- it would say something is gray but it would be completely different like green. Pretty odd seeing a disconnect between visuals and text in a visual...novel. Hm.

On a more serious note though, people who are not comfortable with text or events bringing up images of sexual assault should most likely stay away from this game. It's not common, and there are of course no images, but it's there being described with fairly vivid details. Thankfully it's all in the demo, so that should give people the idea.

If it's between girls, it's okay. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
