Old school gridders
Probably a topic done to death - if so, please feel free to ignore me.
Having regressed 35 years to my youth by purchasing an Amiga Mini last year (and losing myself in that for months), I am now embarking on the Bards Tale remastered trilogy, having completed the originals on a C64 back in the 80's.

I got to thinking what other games in the genre I would love to see remastered whilst remaining true to the originals, and how good some of the games I have been playing recently on the Amiga mini could be if given the BT treatment.

OK, so probably all of them :) but of particular interest to me would be:

Eye of the Beholder series (yes, I know it was just a DM clone, but it was D&D)
Any of the SSI gold box games for the same reason
Might and Magic 1-3 - maybe it was me, but later ones didn't appeal as much except for 6
and top of the list, for which I have multiple pads of A3 graph paper that are 30+ years old with my hand drawn (and colour coded) maps lying next to me...
CAPTIVE
The Amiga version of that game is so superior to the DOS version, it is entirely playable today at 1440p resolution, as I have been doing. A remaster with upscaled graphic assets would look amazing.

Probably just the ramblings of a grumpy old codger who despairs at the state of computer gaming and how it has changed in the 40+ years I've been doing it, lol, but feel free to comment.

Hi there :)
First of all, you are not alone with your thoughts and there are many others in your age out there ;)
Unfortunately there are not many remakes out there you are looking for, but MANY wannabes and only some good new ones.

Depending on what was your latest 'new' CRPG you have played I would go back in time to Wizardry 8 which really cought me when it came out back in the days.

Regarding remakes I only remember these at the moment:
The Dark Eye (1 and 2)
Bards Tale (1-3)
Wasteland

Regarding new ones you can look for these:
Legend of Grimrock (1 and 2)
Bards Tale 4
Operencia the Stolen Sun
Legends of Amberland
The Quest
Vaporum + Vaporum Lockdown
Nox Archaist
Might and Magic X

And this one is a bit different but worth mentioning:
Caves of Lore

Please note that these are just some personal recommendations.
I hope you will find one matching your taste.
Cheers!

I just want a remaster of the Gold Box games really. Never played them but given their reputation and the D&D base with tactical combat I really want to - except I just keep bouncing off the graphics. I have a high tolerance for retro graphics and even play ascii roguelikes, but a 3D view with endless featureless walls is a bit much to stomach.

Gold Box with Lands of Lore artstyle would be amazing.

Thanks @Winwood79 - I've played a few of them to varying degrees, Grimrock2, BT4, Vaporum, M&M X.
Will have to check some of the others out too (although Operencia and Amberland didn't grab me when I checked them out previously).

@UncleYar, yeah I get what you're saying about the gold box graphics (but again, much better on the old Amiga versions - that machine was so far ahead of its time). Sadly I don't see the current rights holders (assuming it is WotC) going down the remaster road, as its the dreadful 5th Edition or bust apparently.

What about Ambermoon or Black Crypt. I still remember Dungeons Avalon 1 and 2, though these were not as good as other DCs.
