How should I tell my family/friends I'm a furry??

Some of my friends are a bit anti-furry and my family doesn't even know what it is. I want to tell them but I don't want to be embarrased and don't want them to think I'm gay (not against gays btw)

I'd steer clear from telling your anti-fur friends for a while and tell them when you feel properly ready.

As for your family, explain the best you can and try to get them to watch majirastrawberry's video "HELP! MY KID IS A FURRY!"

Answer any questions they have as honest as you can. If some people don't like it, ignore them and if anyone hates you for it; then they're not worth your tears.

I'd suggest straying away from telling your friends, but keep a normal relationship.
If your parents don't know what a furry is, tell them what it is and that you are one.

You just do it, the Q&A can be rough afterwards. Expect ridicule and confusion, but then you can openly love your floofyness. I was lucky enough to find a secret furry con-buddy. The hard part was keeping his secret, since I am so openly furry. But he finally came around and nobody was suprised. Why bother? Having to "come out" as a furry makes a big deal out of nothing. Who cares if you like anthropomorphic animals? Feeling the need to come out about it makes it seem even weirder than it is.

I agree with MageCat here. There is not too much to worry about because a furry is just a fan of anthropomorphic animals. The only thing you would have to worry about is the activities you involve yourself in. Try not to make it a big deal about coming out as a furry, just chillax, share, and explain if you feel like you need to. :D

My perents found out when they saw my suit. They were extremely confused with it at first, but they are supportive, depending on your age and if you live with perents or friends, I would wait until you can move out, but, if your perents support you, they will not care. So just let them find out themselves, or have the balls to confess, but I can assure you, it feels nice to get it off of your chest.

Just do you, and they'll figure it out eventually. It's really only as weird as you make it. Parents tend to be understanding though. They'll probably write it off as a phase, and by the time they figure out it isn't they probably won't care because they've lived with it so long. Over 18 though just do what you want. It's you're life, do what makes you happy. If friends hate you over what you enjoy then they weren't very good friends in the first place.
