Crushing fools has been a necessity in my life, so I got good at it. If it was physical anti-fur stuff, my answer would be very different and a lot more likely to be threatening.
Who cares, ignore them, their opinion literally means nothing unless you choose to take it to heart and give it meaning. We're talking about people who are against a hobby that harms nobody. Their words don't need meaning, but you choose to give it meaning by yourself because for whatever reason you choose to listen. It's sensitivity, or low self-esteem, or another issue that makes you listen to what you know is a stupid thing to even insult someone about.
Wjat you mentioned how people are misinformed about the fandom, it doesn't matter whether they're right or wrong about what they think furries are. The only thing that matters is that you chose to give their originally meaningless words, meaning.
Even some of my friends take the piss out of me for being a furry, you should work on yourself not look for some magic method to make all the "hate" go away, it's just silly and that's not the issue
Either way I just try to avoid haters altogether.
