A Guide to installing and playing Touhou: Sky Arena

Hi there, I have a few questions for you...
Do you like 3D fighting games ?
Do you like Shumps (shoot em ups) ?
Do you like Touhou ?

Well you've certainly come to the right place.

Today I will be showing you how to install and play Touhou Sky Arena

What is Touhou Sky Arena ?

Touhou Sky Arena (TSA) is a fan game created all the way back in 2011 by Area-ZERO (http://area-zero.net/product/tsa/index.html). TSA is a 3D fighting game that combines the classic shump gameplay of past Touhou games with the high octane action of fighters like Virtua-On or Custom Robo.

How to install this, there are multiple parts and it looks very confusing?

That's what I though at first, but its' a lot easier than it looks

1st step: install applocale onto your computer (this allows you to change your default country settings and allows you to play import games

2nd step: Download Daemon tools lite ( this allows you to create virtual drives in order to mount .iso files [basically invisible disks] )


3rd step: Download both parts of Touhou Sky Arena(classic) from the links listed below

3.5th step: Put both parts into a folder in order to retrieve the .iso

3.6th step: Mount iso file and install

4th Step: Download both parts of Touhou Sky Arena -HAYATE- 1.51 from the links listed below
4.5th step: execute the update file

5th step: Dowload both parts of Touhou Sky Arena -KURENAI- .ISO from the links listed below

5.5th step: repeat mounting process through Daemon tools, then run install


6th step: Download both parts ofTouhou Sky Arena -KURENAI- 1.51 and run the install

7th step: Download both parts of Touhou Sky Arena Matsuri 1.51 download and then run the install


If everything went smoothly, you should now be able to run the complete game, fully patched

I recommend using DS3, or you can use an xbox controller (refer to the games manuel, it is in japanese so install a translating extension in your browser)

How It Works:
---------------------

Main Menu
Arcade: Play through the story with the selected character

Vs: Select 1~4 players to fight. Set teams or just have an all-out free-for-all.

Network: Play with other people online through the internet. Host locally or connect to the
FLYNETWORK SYSTEM Lobby.

Survival: Engage in consecutive fights until you are defeated. Difficulty raises per victory.

Tutorial: A ticker near the bottom will display various commands and teach you how to
play/fight.

Training: Set CPU actions/fightLvl and practice with them 'till your heart's content.

Play Recording: Keeps track of certain game statistics.

Replay: Review saved replays.

Options: Adjust a few in-game settings.

Exit Game: Closes the game.

Tension Meter:
----------------------
Each BGM possesses their own unique tension meter. It affects the in-game play by blocking some options and allowing some. As time passes, a little bar passes through the meter allowing only that part of the meter it touches in effect. This process repeats.

Low Tension
- No fast flying.
- No mirage slides.

Normal Tension
- Characters act normally.

High Tension
- Access to HI-Tension abilities.
- Perform longer melee chains (5 Hits).

Climax Tension
- Access to Climax/HI-Tension abilities.
- Perform longer melee chains (7 Hits).
- When at the CF (Finale) or end of climax, you will perform a finale attack, which is similar to a climax attack but includes an extra move.

Default Controls:

These can be changed via the TSAConfig in the game folder or in-game options.
Arrow Keys: Character: Menu Navigation
Z: In-game (Slide/Dash), Menu (Accept)
X: Shoot
C: Melee
V: In-game (Shield), Menu (Cancel)
S: Ascend
D: Descend
Q: Lock-on
A: Trigger/Shift (for casting spells)
- A+X: Spellcard
- A+V: EX-Spellcard
- A+C: Hi-Tension Spellcard
- A+Z: Climax Spellcard
- A+S and A+D: Mirage Slide (in front and behind opponent respectively)
Space: Change CPU behavior
Enter: Pause/Menu/Start button
ESC: Pause/Quit

Character Selection:

From top to bottom of picture.

Player: Set to 1P~4P, CPU or empty slot.

Team: Set to Team A, B, C, or D

Character: Choose out of ten characters or set random as ???.

Type: Either shot type A or B. Only the normal shot (X) and spellcard (A+X) change. Thus includes charged shots which are done by holding down the corresponding button(s) and letting go.

Level: Set the handicap. More stars equals more health.
