"Account not found" when trying to request access
ISSUE
When trying to request access to shared library, get message "failed to send authorization request (account not found)"

OS
Windows 7 Pro 64b

STEPS
* Note: prior to yesterday, I and another user worked out how to share our libraries on our respective machines, and I verified by playing one of their games. However, now, I don't see another their library save for the one game I tried playing.

Launch game listed from shared library.
Get message dialog about requesting access.
Proceed to give name to my computer for this request.
Pressing okay, gives dialog warning "Failed to send authorization request (account not found)"

The account name that owns the shared library is listed correctly, as well as my steam username, in this dialog. That owner has affirmed that he didn't get any request for sharing from me. That owner also has no problems playing games off from my library.

EXPECTED
The request should be sent out normally.
(Of course, the shared library should not have vanished.)

I have no idea if this is related to my previous bug with the store page ( here http://steamcommunity.com/groups/familysharing/discussions/1/846965882815591691/ ).

yep, worked until this morning, and now I only see the games I already downloaded, but I can'T play them anymore

I do note, like others, that this seemed to involve having something like Hamachi involved. I have appeared to fix it by first getting my computer into a state where it should normally be at after a restart, as well as making sure Hamachi doesn't start as a client (service still running). Then we did the library sharing.

When I had to restart again yesterday for Windows updates, it initially appeared the library was lost save for the the game I had tested, but when I went to play it, got the "do you want to request authorization' dialog, and then after filling out the steps, steam goes "Oh, you are already authroized" , and the shared library suddenly reappeared.

Also getting this. Don't have Hamachi or simular apps installed on the authorized PC.
EDIT: Updating to Steam Beta seems to have fixed it for now.

Well, with the Oct 14 steam update, that library has lost access again, even the trick of trying the one game I've dl'd from it doesn't work with the same error I initially reported. I note that the only thing I did was install the new beta update of Steam when it came up today; no computer restart, etc. Before updating the library was visible and available.

Same here. Hopefully someone'll find a way to fix this or we wait untill Valve fixes it :(

Same issue here, beta is installed also steam guard ... hope it will be fixed soon

I had the same problem and I found a solution.
I know this thread is old, but I found it with google and maybe I can help someone with the same problem.

Go to Steam/Settings/Account and press the "Change" Button on "Beta participation:" and choose the "Beta Steam Update".
Now Steam want to update, so restart it and try to start a game of your friend. Press request access and it will work now.

same predicament. cant play games from other computers within my house. says user not found.

I used still the same solution and if that doesn't work, I change the setting again/back.

Had you anytime normal access to the chosen account? Maybe your account or your PC is not correct unlocked.
