Dadrector's Cut Update

As of the dadrector's cut release, the cult ending is now officially playable and the Escape from Margaritaville achievement is unlockable.

The method for achieving the ending is not what we expected. The Walk Mary Home bug is still in place. The positive Walk Mary Home scene can still be reached by doing the first date for all the dads, and then the second date for Robert and Damien. However, upon finishing Joseph's second date, the negative Walk Mary Home scene will trigger and overwrite the previous one.

Rather than removing the (now confirmed intentional) bug and adding the ending back into the course of normal game play, they've added the cult ending in a way that can only be achieved very intentionally so that no one who doesn't go looking for it can stumble into it. It's even book ended with pop up warning messages. The actual method is here under spoiler tags.

Start a new game
In the Dad builder, choose the thick body, oval head, balding blond hair, wide black eyes(in the bottom right), wizard brows, pilot glasses, and tommy banana suit. No piercings or facial hair. Name your dad "Jimmy Buffett." If you've done it correctly, ominous music will play.
*It may also require you to have unlocked all the other endings, but I haven't confirmed this yet*
Check your gallery and ensure you've wooed all the dads if you're having trouble.

Upon completeing the requirements, a message will pop up informing you that you've found the secret ending. It'll offer to either skip you directly to it or let you play through the game up to the ending to get the full story. When you reach the beginning of the cult ending scene, a second warning message will pop up with a statement from the creators explaining that the scene was originally written because they're all horror movie fans, and then removed for "obvious reasons." The version left in the data was an old, unfinished version never meant to be seen. That it was included was, apparently, a genuine accident. They also emphasize that it is non canonical.

Having played through it, the writing is much more polished but it still plays out mostly as it did in the datamined version. Saul has a couple of voiced lines, which I believe is new. Overall it still feels a bit tonally out of sync with the rest of the game, and I'm a bit frustrated by how it's unlocked (i would have preferred a fix to the walk mary home bug, and maybe some additional flags earlier in the route if they really wanted to make it hard to get) but I'm glad the creators have at least finally addressed it. That was the only thing that never really sat well with me. It's nice to have some closure.

Fingers crossed, maybe a good reception to this will lead to them finally making a full route for Saul!

I'm so mad about this, I literally made a tumblr post in July of last year about jokingly trying to unlock the ending with a character who looked like and was named Jimmy Buffett... but I made him look like young Jimmy Buffett instead of old Jimmy Buffett. Game Grumps owes me an honorary achievement for getting that close to figuring out the unlock secret 15 months early 😂😂

Hey I'm a little late to the party but i got all of the endings and made the dad you specified but it still isn't working for me. Can you help me figure out what I'm doing wrong?
