I recommend Jim Sterling, but he is not comparable to John Bain. TB was force of nature in gaming industry.

While Jim calls people out, he does so usually in a more deconstructive way with an angry attitude. While devs need that, they tend to not listen to him, and Randy Pitchford (you know, the guy responsible for Colonial Marines who was found with child porn) tends to insult him instead of listening to him.

It might be cliche to say, but no one will/can replace him. TB was his own thing, his own person. And people are different.

I recommend ACG. He's really good, and not controversy/drama seeker like Jim Sterling (who also has good reviews, when he bother to review and not focused on some drama/ social injustice)

I know. But still, ain't no one around in my experience who can fill that void. Port reports, first impressions and rambling critiques don't come in a single package anywhere that I've looked.

Yea, a lot of popular critics are pretty much a copy of the AVGN, using comical anger, skits, and deconstructive criticism. Totalbuscuit kept his cool and was always constructive, providing proof as to why the developers were wrong.

Well it wasn't just his review but a handful of individuals that like to tout the title game journalist/reviewer/etc.

But basically his "review" was half an hour of plagiarizing Kotaku's "review" while autistically screaming fuckonami while spouting bullshit about having to pay for save slots, attacking the combat and gameplay without actually playing, and generally have no clue how the game works as a whole. Jim Sterling's review was equally egregious spouting off the exact same bullshit while obviously having only put in the most bare amount of time into the game to just get a handful of shots around the starting zone.

Overall the problem is while the game isn't perfect by any stretch they could've found legitimate issues to attack the game for. But instead their reviews were a combination of outright lies or completely skewing facts to the point it may as well had been outright lies.

Honestly the only review I'm aware of by anyone with any real audience is Yahtzee's review of it. Not a glowing review but tackled the real issues the game had. Had TB been kicking about and doing reviews when it released I think the game would've done a whole lot better given you can expect him to do a legitimate indepth review that isn't completely bullshitting you blinded by bias.

You do you kiddo but salt or no salt my point still stands. If these so called journalists and game reviewers had not have sperged out and screeched Fuckonami while trying to pass that off as a review the game would've done much better and I still think had TB been around he could've put a legitimate review accurately dissecting the game and Konami's politics while keeping the two separate.
