"first come first serve" when selling for the same price is the only fair way.
This has lost me a lot of money actually, and continues to lose me money. It makes buying and selling, which makes Valve a ton of money, not worth it for us for high volume items. If I can't sell them I can't buy them because I can't get rid of them again. This makes Valve way more money than random users selling a couple items here and there. They get double dips from us.
Not to mention that this costs Valve money because it drives the market prices down a lot faster too.
PLEASE change this ASAP. This is insanely unfair to users from many countries. In fact I suspect this may be illegal in some form, but at the very least it is insanely unethical and the company should be embarrassed.
Let me put this in perspective a bit more and why it costs Valve money. I ahve made about 800 market trasactions so far. Buying/Selling. Since I get frozen out by these other currencies I am not buying and sellig anymoe because I can't make any sales without taking a loss. Even at the lowest possibel fees, every one of those transactions Valve has made at LEAST 3 cents on. Thats' $24 just from me alone and that is a fraction of what they actually made from me since I was paying much more in fees than 3 cents. It is also a fraction of the amount of transactions I would ahve made if they had the listings set up properly. I'd be well over 2000 already in jsut a couple days if it was done pproperly.
the solution would be having one currency on the market or valve creates there own currency.
get this exchange rate out of the way before an item is listed on the market.
What hurts us so much is that people arbitrage and then since they get preference in listing they list 5+ pages of the items on the market and push us all back 5 pages. The DEMAND isn't high enough to sustain that price long enough for ours to get bought. They literally have free reign to sell at any price they want to and have it sold within minutes,.
We just can't compete in that environment because when they list 5 pages it pushes the price down. People can't sell unless they undercut that preferential price listing for these other currencies. So that leaves us even further back and more time for them to add even more pages above our listings.
I've had items listed at the stable price for THREE DAYS that won't sell because of this. Literally THOUSANDS (This is not an exaggeration. The graphs show this clearly) of items have sold since that time at that price and there has never been more than 10 pages at that price at one time. It is impossible for me to sell at the same price as they do because they can just undercut me by listing at the SAME PRICE, yet they don't have to go to the end of the line. They get top listings immediately.
So I have to sell at the next lowest price just to get any sales. Then if I do that it starts to push the price down because I have a lot of supply too. I have to play a game of not selling a ton at once to make sure the price stays where I can sell fast enough.
If it stabilizes at my new price they can do it all over again and put 3-4 more pages in front of me.
IT's just not fair to us, and the market is losing money because of it. I haven't bought a thing in 3 days now because I can't resell my stuff at a profit with this going on. Valve can't possibly make more money this way. They would make MUCH more money if people like us were buying and selling every day rather than a handful of people getting listing advantages and killing off the market.
If any of the information I stated above is true then what can be done about it? Would it be wise to use a universal currency for the Community Market? Perhaps allow for thousandths, ten-thousandths, hundred-thousandths, etc. in local currency? Maybe localize the Community Market into separate sections that trade in their own respective local currency?
Maybe all three of those suggestions? Local markets trade in local currency, the global market trades in a global currency, and the global currency can be traded in the thousandths, ten-thousandths, hundred-thousandths, etc.
Maybe all of that is a bunch of poppycock, although I do wonder what Valve's local economist has to say about it.
ITS NOT FAIR
I LIST SOMETHING THEN OTHER RUSSIAN LIST SAME THING FOR SAME PRICE AND I DROP ON 2-3-4-5 PAGE
STEAM FIX IT

Well, i just can support the concern of threat-creator! Please Steam ! Do something to fix the currency/rounding problem on the Steam Market ! That is just unfair.
Russians keep push me down and I still see the same price as mine in euros, even if I was first with my item.
VALVE, do something !
They also need to add buy orders, steam market is out of date auction house, all new mmo's use a buy order, sell order system.
It gets rid of bots and it hassle free for the users and stops items being undercut by 1 cent over and over.
The wallet also needs to be increased from $500, those who have provided information should have a higher limit, it only hurts valve when we can't sell.
