[ENDED] Feedback Giveaway - Vote for New Website Features
Hello everyone,

Huge thanks for all the comments received so far! It's really great to hear all of your your opinions, please keep it up!

Personally i would use. I also support login through steam. Because almost everywhere ppl uses it, steamgift, steamcompanion, even gleam. The only reason ppl dont want to use it is if they want to use somekind of botting stuff. To be honest without that kind of security there is no point of doing a vote, ppl can just spam bot vote, even steam reviews are being bot reviewed. So im fully agree one click login through steam.:steamhappy:

Many thanks for your vote and comments :)

Logging in through Steam is almost a certainty at this point and will also benefit some other areas of the website. This does not prevent bot activity though, anyone with ill-intentions would just have to use Steam bots (as you alluded to). The most effective, battle-tested preventative measures will be used regarldess of the login situation.

Thanks for your vote! I appreciate it.

Many thanks, your vote has been counted.

seems like a good opportunity for developers/publishers to get more feedback as well as the players to get a chance in a giveaway

That's right, it should provide some indication of the popularity of a game amongst readers and how it stacks up to the others in the 'Most Wanted' section. Thanks for your comment!

I'm ok with the proposal but you'd have a very hard time to convince me to actual use and follow your site and the reviews regardless.

Having to sign up would likely limit the number of votes but if it's used through "login with Steam" when it's quick and also carries a smaller risk of cheating the system so I think that would be good and I personally are totally fine with you providing the data of the people who had voted.

I totally hate any begging for Greenlight votes and I think there's too much trash on Steam already and even more trash on Greenlight, I guess for trashy content you won't get me to up-vote a Greenlit page for a trashy game also that's not how the system is supposed to be used. On your website I'd be totally fine with offering my honest input though. It shouldn't be about "do this and you'll get this in return" though as far as cheating systems and consumer advice goes though.

Thank you very much for the detailed reply!

I agree with your concerns and just want to emphasize that this will not be linked into Steam Greenlight voting in any way. That sort of begging is characteristic of groups that have charged newly-formed developers a "publishing fee" to get their [often sub-par or sub-sub-sub-par] game greenlit, oftentimes incentivizing votes which is against the Steam TOS.

This proposal would essentially be a means to filter the best from the best of the upcoming games featured on the website to date, because there would not be time to cover them all. The execution would simply be a thumbs-up icon that users click if they want to see more of that game, accompanied by a 'Most Wanted' page summarizing the results and the candidates.

I hope that clarifies any uncertainties you had and I also really hope to one day entice you to take a look at a review or two, even if that's not usually your thing, because at the end of the day that is the whole point of this endeavour :)

check for bots and a quick and short answer before submit, good luck with your plans. :dreadnought:

You've got that right, and then some! Really appreciate the vote of confidence, thank you so much :)

how you make the giveways?
:steamsalty:

Hello there. I'm not sure if you're trying to enter a particular giveaway or asking what the procedure to enter giveaways in general is, so I'll try to cover everything!

You can view all currently active giveaways on the website[www.bobmanbob.com]. There are a few different types but it's pretty straight-forward to enter any giveaway, just click into them to see the how-to.

Thanks!

I would love a "click to vote" button! Instead of the normal process, it would be WAY easier. Requiring a login would be great as well, because people strolling through the interwebs for games can't just get them without proof. Logins would discourage bot users and such. I don't really care if my profile is able to be seen via button AND I don't care if the devs/publishers want proof I voted.:steamhappy:

Many thanks for the complete reply and I'm also really happy to see you share the enthusiam for the proposal :D.

I would use it. I also support a login, maybe with Steam for not have random people put a random vote. For the other things of the developer for me is ok, if is really confidential and only as a proof.

Thanks Yomi! Just to emphasize: the proof could be held privately, as backup just in case. Confidentiality is assured and would be detailed in an updated privacy policy.

I would use the voting system and would have no problem logging in with my steam account. As for the clickable steam account links and sharing them with the developers, that's a big maybe for me that is leaning more towards no at the moment. It may help prove legitimacy, but I'm sure you're well aware of how little information people need nowadays to completely mess up your life.

Many thanks for the detailed reply! Based on the responses so far, there would be no need to display the list of voters publically.

In the event of a developer/publisher requesting proof, it should of course be as impersonal as possible. From the available options, sharing the Steam account links seems to be the best fit. After all, this information is already publically available via Steam groups etc, if not in such a 'singled out' format.

Prospective games developers/publishers won't be dodgy companies hawking questionable games, which will hopefully also be evident to the readers from the included information and company links.

I hope that offered some bit of reassurance! I'm open to any and all suggestions. Many thanks once again :)

Honestly I don't think that a login would be a concern for people to vote.
However it should be a safe way to do it like a registration on your website with any social platform or Steam client.
Sharing it with publishers or developers I think it should be alright if they are well known and not starters whom we don't know what might do with that information.

Thanks for the complete reply + comments! From experience, totally new startups would be happy with a good track record alone, so this information would not be shared with them.

No idea :/

Fair enough, if it passes you can check out the end result and see for yourself!

Would definitely use, it seems good. I would be fine if my steam link was shared. And why would a simple login discouraged me to use the system, I would use it anyways.

Cheers for that, really appreciate the complete response!

Thanks again for all the feedback folks :) Have a great weekend!
