Why do some players of Skyrim hate Argonians?

I've seen a lot of people going on about how Argonians suck in various forums but in Skyrim they are in my opinion the best race to play as. They looked terrible in Oblivion but in Skyrim they look great - a vast imporvement. They also have some useful racial perks which can come in handy.

I'm tired of playing as human type characters in games and wanted to try something different. I mean who does not want to play as this guy?

Yeah, when my friends first saw me playing skyrim their reponse was "why the F*** are you playing as a that.. A lizard?" WHY?

I said have you actually tried playing the Argonian yourself to which he said no. He chose the Nord which I think most people go for. I suggested him to at least trying the Argonian race but I bet he does not bother to try it out.

Different mindset. Fear of trying new things or fear of unusual things?
Maybe some were bitten by a reptile when they were kids, who knows? :P
Some people just do not see the sheer beauty, badassery and sexyness of the Argonians :D

I made an evil badass Argonian character today to do the 'evil' side quests and Thieves Guild. I thought I'd post this image to sway player's decisions. The Argonian Mercenary Armour looks great on this guy BTW.

Yeah, that thought did cross my mind. :) Heat generating enchancements for armour to keep you warm on those cold mountaintops? Don't look too bad weather wise around Riften with the deciduous trees and that. Probably a lot warmer than northern Skyrim. I suppose that annoying Lydia can come in handy as a pack mule for carrying all my extra and spare clothes...

The Nordic carved armour (w/o the ridiculous helmet) looks best on my 'good' and main character and that has wool collar and undergarments. Thanks. I made two characters as doing all the good quests then turning evil with the same character didn't feel right. The game does not seem to have consequences for this and most react to you in the same way regardless of what you have done. The only exception is Riften where the people do whether your'e aligned with the thieves guild or not.

I have since made the 'evil' guy into a follower and he now serves as my good character's bodyguard and replacement housecarl / servant seem as my first housecarl got killed.

The main reason for people hating Argonians (And Khajiits) is the fact that they view them as animals. Rather than seeing them as the beautiful, badass, and sexy race as we do, they see an animal.
When me and my friend got into this talk, I challenged him to try Argonian for once. When he refused, I called him a coward for it, and he did it. Now, it's his favorite character. He has over 200+ hours with him, and he hasn't even started on the main quest, Dawngaurd, Dragonborn, or the Civil War yet. Level 82, and OP as hell. Yet, whenever I ask him if he likes the Argonians, he still pulls that card. I think he really does like them, only he just doesn't want to admit it :p

Back when I was a kid, and Oblivion was the game out at the time, I'd found the Argonians to be the badass looking race. Throughout the whole time, they were my favorite. I played that game for years, almost always as an Argonian, until Skyrim came out. Now that Skyrim's been out, I've still been playing as Argonians. Still love them the most. The badassery of them, the racial abilities, and such. (Histskin has saved my life so many times when using Requiem), that mixed with the fact that I can eat raw food is great.

i for some reason have a bad habit of making my character always the same badass power house orc called Grazka Blood-Eye, or an elf based off of legolas. I have tried once making an arogonian using multiple mods improving em like adding; tail armor, horns forever(go through materials), more skin tones, dragon wings, better horn shapes, raptor feet, and named him Dragoe Flame-Tail with a nice tainted blood red skin tone.....but that was just once.

Honestly, people dont care that much, they just want to be... people. A lot of people who play want to look "normal" even though that means looking ike at least 25 other npcs in various places around Skyrim :3. This, I dont understand because why would you want to look like a bunch of racist people who know nothing off acceptance and/or skill. (thought I would throw that in there)
