War thunder wiki explains "The AH-1S Kisarazu is the first vehicle in the game to feature a female flight crew. Both females have a unique model and are part of the 4th ATH and one of which is cosplaying as one of the sisters, Kisarazu Wakana"
The in game models, both of which are girls, are modeled off the actual flight crew from the JDF's 4th ATH.

This is an example of minority pandering.
The JSDF is in the process of trying to increase the number of female personnel:

Is the discussion on War Thunder or the JSDF being woke?
I brought up the fact Gaijin, the company behind WT, put in the helicopters as they are IRL, since Gaijin tries to make all vehicles accurate to their real life counterparts, to varying degrees of success, but that's a different discussion entirely. You respond with the fact that the JSDF, not the game in discussion, is enacting DEI policies.
Do you think they added the helicopter to the game because it has women as crew or because there's an anime girl on the side of it?
The information about the JSDF is added context to help reinforce the fact that female participation in the JSDF is statistically low. Thus, the inclusion of this helicopter with an all-female flight crew is an example of a game studio engaging in minority pandering.
This coinciding with a push for "female-empowerment" and "diversity" in the JSDF makes this even more indicative of feminist (DEI) messaging.
Without hearing from the developers themselves, there's no way of knowing for certain why they included this in their game.
The important thing to remember is that they chose to include this in their game. Just because something exists in real-life doesn't mean you have to include it in your game.
That is especially true for things that exist in the real-world as extreme minorities, like female members of the JSDF.
The portrayal of minorities and "under-represented groups" in media is a primary objective of DEI.
iow Equity, justified from an imaginary oppression pyramid with whites as the bad guy. Like the woke Dead By Daylight dev.

That is nice work. Very in-depth research and sound reasoning, incredibly refreshing in this post-logical world.
Gotta say, I always cringe when someone replaces "female" with "women", making a grammatical error to avoid "dehumanizing" language.
