Mount & Blade version 1.165 report
Title: How to get perfect 'borderless fullscreen windowed' to work with 'Windowed Borderless Gaming' for M&B version '1.165'.

General information for understanding:

Mount & Blade adds an 'options menu' attached to the top of its window. It reserves exactly 20 pixel of the Y axis for this purpose. So you'll see this annoying menu bar in window mode unlike in the real fullscreen mode. However, the way M&M threats window mode is by automatically adjusting the FoV according to the resolution, even if it's an odd one. Therefore, because the menu bar takes up 20 pixels of the Y axis, the game will make the FoV wider to compensate.

The solution:

So, for proper running in proper borderless fullscreen windowed - without the menu bar - adjust the offset of the Y axis to '-20' and add '+20' to the Y of the resolution. Example, 1680x1050 > 1680x1070 with offset '-20' to the Y axis.

Oddities:

Now, the first time you change the window size with WBG then the game will simply stretch the game, however, when you apply the same value again then the game will properly set the window and adjust the FoV according.

I hope this'll help some people. :-)

Hi there,

Thanks this guide to remove the annoying bar at the top of the game. I have however come across another issue, in that the game does not stretch properly... The monitor I play my game on is 1920 x 1080, so I changed the resolution to 1980 x 1100 and set an offset of -20. I got this as my result.

The game is extended onto my second monitor (resolution: 1366 x 768). For the game's resolution settings, I have set it to both desktop resolution and manually setting it to 1920 x 1080, but I get the same result either way.

Is this a known issue or have I just messed something up?

Hey. I don't have two monitors, but what happens if you instead move the second monitor to the left of the primary screen? You don't have to move it physically, of course, but you can do so by going to 'Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display\Screen Resolution'. I know is not a solution, but maybe it'll tell us something.

Maybe WBG could have a 'lock window to primary monitor' feature, but you have to ask the creator if such a feature is possible. There might also be other programs out there which can lock a specific window to a specific monitor and which you could then use in conjuction with WBG. You could try to search for it, I suppose.

:)

Thanks for your response.

Unfortunately, changing the order of the monitors hasn't fixed anything and the game resolution is still stretched outside of the screen.

I will look into a window locker to see if this will help fix the issue.

Okay, I hope you'll find a solution. Btw, are you using borderless for this game mostly because of performance or input latency? Because if only to reduce input latency then you can still use the 'lock frame rate to minus 2 below your refresh rate' trick to reduce the input by a lot. It's just an alternative if all else fails. If the frame rate drops to half of the refresh rate too often then you can also try to force triple buffering on by 'directxoverrider' or maybe it's called 'dxoverrider'. You might already know these things, but yeah.

I'm using borderless because every time I tab out, my game crashes.

I know this is really old but, this guide helped me a lot. Thanks. Btw for 1920x1080 resolution set x offset to -10
