Gsync troubleshooting curiousity
So I've been having an issue recenetly with Windows 11 24H2 and the latest nvidia drivers. I run the game iracing in borderless windowed with gsync enabled. Everything works fine until I tab out of the game. When I tab back in gsync won't work. I've stumbled across the solution that if I add iracing as a window in Windowed Borderless Gaming and then hit F4 to force borderless it minmizes iracing, maximizes it and then I have gsync back. Sometimes iracing stays minimized after hitting F4 and then I need to use my mouse to click on the iracing icon to bring the game back up on screen. But none the less it brings gsync back, almost like it "resets" the iracing window and gsync starts back up again.

I guess my question really is, what exactly is happeneing in the background when I'm hitting F4 to force borderless that is somehow bringing my game out of a stuck "gsync off" state after alt tabbing out and in? I'm hoping it maybe leads me to a solution that stops gsync from getting stuck off altogether when I alt tab out of the game and then come back in. Hitting F4 and forcing borderless wouldn't be a bad solution, it can jsut be problematic when the game doesn't maximize after pressing the hotkey and I have to grab the mouse and navigate to the taskbar icon which can be problematic when driving (iracing is a racing sim).

Thanks if you could provide any insight!

So I was poking around and I saw the bit on the update notes about the window not getting automatically redrawn when borderless is forced UNLESS you hold in the hotkey for a few seconds. Am I right in assuming this is actually what’s fixing my gsync stuck in off state? I hold in f4 for a couple seconds, the window appears to minimize and then maximize (I think the first time I do this is maximizes but subsequent times I have to click the icon in the taskbar to bring the window back up) and this action brings gsync back on. I’m guessing it’s the “redrawing of the window” that’s fixing my issue here?

If so, even with that knowledge I’m not quite sure how I can prevent the game from having gsync be stuck off after alt tabbing and only fixed when the window is redrawn. It’s too bad the window isn’t automatically redrawn when I click back into the game from being alt tabbed (maybe it’s supposed to?).
