How to modify save (.sav) file for Fallout Shelter
There are many ways to modify a save file for your vault in Fallout Shelter. Typically the reason most would like to do this is to give themselves resources usually extra caps or nuka bottles in example.

One way is to convert the .sav to a .json file and edit what you want yourself and then convert it back to .sav and replace the original .sav file. However i will show you a much quicker and efficient way to do this for Fallout Shelter.

1) First step is to locate your save file location. It could be in documents in my games or as in my case for my one vault save I have it may be through this pathway:
"C:\Users\(yourname/userfoldername)\AppData\Local\FalloutShelter\Vault1.sav"
(Note: to show hidden files such as AppData in file explorer, press view --> more --> show hidden files/folders)

2) Once you've located this save file and know its location on your device go and open this:
https://rakion99.github.io/shelter-editor/

3) Then follow the prompts and steps there as they've made a convenient way to modify your save file, simply upload and put in your save file, edit the fields you wish to edit, then press save and it will download a new edited save file you can then download and paste to your save file location with the same name overwriting and replacing your previous save.

4) If you wish to make a new vault to modify it and keep another vanilla or to just backup the original save file you'll me modifying you certainly can do so if you wish to have a spare prior to it being edited.

5) After replacing and putting in the new save file you are done and should be good to go, start the game, load your game/vault, and everything you did/modified should be there and applied.
