Tutorial - Free Purple Duty Officers/Doff Mission Chains
COLONIZATION MISSION CHAINS

In this tutorial, I will be showing you how to get purple (very rare) NAMED duty officers via duty officer missions. You can get an INFINITE number of each these specific purple duty officers, and they are awesome for active duty OR duty officer missions.

These missions can be found in what was formerly the nebulas and clusters until recently when they became a physical part in the sector they were attached to. If you don't know what I'm on about, use the map at the bottom of this page:

http://sto.gamepedia.com/Assignment:_Support_Colonization_Efforts

Also on that page is a list of the duty officers you can get and what they do.
My favorites are: Jhamel Thoris from the T'Ong nebula and Ixtana'Adar from the Betreka nebula. They are fantastic for doing the Confiscate Contraband, Inspect Civilian Freighter, and Strike Against Fugitive Support Network missions. And because you can get an infinite number of them, you can run missions with 3 copies of Ixtana'adar, 2 copies of Jhamel Thoris, and so on. Vog the Faithless and Hunter Ikrin are also really good.

***PLEASE NOTE: Some of the duty officers cannot be acquired until you have gotten to Tier 4 of the Diplomatic chain and are able to enter Klingon space***

Another link you will need is here:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0An0kX7PcNK-vdG1oNWl1ZGlsYzN0Z3NCRFJLWkJLa2c#gid=109

Start by moving your cursor over 'Colony Site Survey 1/7' in the first box. You can use this page as a reference to what the requirements are to starting each doff mission, and where you can find it. For example, Transport Settlers (5/7) will require 30 minutes, 5 colonists, 20 provisions, 5 medical supplies, and 2 warp cores. This mission would be identical in each location (Rolor, B'Tran, etc.) These missions are picked up in the Current Map tab in your duty officer menu. Each mission is completed regardless of whether it was a success or failure; on a failure, you will still advance to the next one with no consequences. Upon completing the 7th mission, Renown, you will be awarded with a blue named officer, and will unlock the Support repeating mission.

Getting a critical on the repeating mission, Support Colonization Efforts, will get you the purple named doff from that particular cluster/nebula. This mission has a 24hr cooldown, and takes 4 hrs to complete.

You can find more information on the colonization mission chain here:

OTHER MISSION CHAINS THAT REWARD DOFFS

There are also other missions that will reward you with purple duty officers, like the Ghosts of the Jem'Hadar, Project Chrysalis, Consular Authority, Facility 4028, and Caitian Diaspora chains.

Using this page again, we can determine individual mission requirements:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0An0kX7PcNK-vdG1oNWl1ZGlsYzN0Z3NCRFJLWkJLa2c#gid=109

The chains Ghosts of the Jem'Hadar and Project Chrysalis are not repeatable, and you will only be rewarded with the unique purple doffs they give once.

Consular authority, Facility 4028, and Caitian Diaspora all give a repeatable final mission that can be done an infinite number of times in a similar vein to the the Colonization chains mentioned in the above post.

Facility 4028 has the most useful repeatable mission in Strike Against Fugitive Support Network. Upon getting a critical on this mission, you will receive contraband, a bunch of prisoners, and a blue Vorta that you can exchange in the Beta Ursae sector block mission 'Exchange Prisoners with Dominion' for a REALLY GOOD blue or purple duty officer. Some of these doffs can be worth anywhere from 500k to 100mil.

The final Caitian Diaspora mission, Caitian Field Flight Training Program, can give a purple Caitian duty officer. The catch-22 is that the best duty officers to have the highest rating to get these duty officers are in purple duty officers, so you may need to buy a few off the exchange to be able to chance getting more. Don't worry, as some of the purple duty officers this mission rewards can worth upwards of 20mil, and you will soon recoup your losses.

Consular authority will unlock a repeatable mission that will give you duty officers, but be noted that the 4th mission will permanently remove the duty officer you assign to complete from your roster, so use a common one.
