Tutorial - Chat Settings & Channels

Woz-

CHAT SETTINGS

There's a hell of a lot of chat'n going on inside STO, so here's how ive managed to adjust my chat settings so's that i can only see whats important to me , you may find these setting not to your taste , you can ajust them at any time , here's how i fixed mine.

in the STO chat window , theres a small icon ( bottom right of chat window )
click that , now click chat settings , the only box's i leave TICKED for my main Fleet channl 1 are , Emotes , Fleet , Friends , Officer , Team , Teamup , Tell .
you can further change an adjust your options in the ( bottom right ) chat options for eg if you swear a lot like i do , turn your Profanity filtter to OFF or if you have sensative eye's , keep it ON lol :)

you'll also see 3 tabs in your CHAT CONFIG. an CHAT OPTIONS called chat , NPC , COMBAT( default channel names ) you can adjust , rename , or cutomize these an also add more .

an remeber to always make sure your set to the FLEET channel ,it some times reset to Locial after a PVE or PVP match . you can see if you are by it saying FLEET in the bottom left of the chat window where you type , if your not , click the small icon on the bottom right of the chat window an select "set channel " , " Fleet " .

you can also PRIVATE MESSAGE ( PM ) others by right clicking on there name in the chat window or in your social menu ( O ) , friends list , also , from the Fleet roster .

CHANNELS

TFD also has 2 dedicated Fleet channels called " Defiance " an " TFD 3 ".
" Defiance " is used for comunication between or Klingon Fleet " Qu Rad Daw " an or Fed Fleet TFD ......... TFD 3 is set up for us to help you better when the main Fleet channel get's a bit to chaotic .
To access these channels 1-. go to chat setting 2-. at the top of menu there are 2 tabs select channel . 3-. Type in " Defiance " or TFD 3 an click join . 4-. Then Tick Defiance or TFD 3 in your current Chat channel or make a new chat channel by ---
1 . going into chat settings ..... 2 . Add new tab ( ive name mine " Fleet 2 " an " Fleet 3 " ) 3 . tick what ever chat options you want E.g ...Friends , Officer , Team , Team up , Tell , Defiance in 1 chat tab , an the same with the 3rd with TFD 3 in it instead . But you may do it differently as long as you TICK Defiance in 1 , and TFD 3 in the other .

ive set my channels to 5 main tabs ..... Fleet 1 , Fleet 2 , Fleet 3 , Zone , Dmg self . .... SO if you are try'n to reach me , an im not getting back to you PM me coz i might be helping someone else an on another Channel , an i'll get back to you as soon as i can .

The way I have my chat settings tabs set up is in this order:

ZONE, FLEET, TEAM, TELL, DPS

All channels display fleet chat except for Tell and DPS. No channel shows damage done, loot drops or interaction with NPC's.

I keep TELL just so I don't accidentally chat in other channels when I am having a private conversation with someone, and DPS to show how much damage I'm doing.
