How do I get a fiddlehead fern?
Having played Stardew Valley casually for almost 4 years now (starting Year 4 on my file), I surprisingly have yet to complete the community center. The last thing I've needed for a while was a fiddlehead fern, and up until now I still haven't been able to come across one. Do I really have to wait until the summer to get my hands on this schroinkly plant?

Hey, you can sometimes find fiddlehead fern at the travelling cart on Fridays or Sundays, or if you have the secret woods open in fall I think maybe summer you go in there and there should be some in there for foraging. I hope this helps :)

Thanks for your help! I'm hoping I'll get lucky one of these Sundays!
You can get them from cutting down the weird jungle-looking trees with the plush tops and the curly arms that also have little clumps of foliage during/after green rain; you also get them if you place tappers on those same trees if they're fully grown. You can purchase them from Kent's Shop at the Desert Festival for 10 Calico Eggs, occasionally from the Traveling Cart for anywhere between 270-1000 gold, in the Prehistoric Floors of Skull Cavern, or foraging in the secret wood during the summer, which has a 78% chance for drop! :spiffo:

Oh wow, thanks for the tips! I'm still awaiting my fiddlehead blessing!

Wait, weird jungle-looking trees with plush tops and curly arms? And how do I get green rain? 💀
A little late to this but I just experienced this so I can help now, the curly trees that they are talking about looks like the bean stalk from jack and the bean stalk. And i’m sorry but green rain is a summer only event (will happen on the 5, 6, 7, 14, 15, 16, 18, or 23rd of summer.) You’ll know when it happens because the weather report the day before will have a green icon and the weatherman saying he doesn’t know what his readings mean. Good luck!

Oh ok, thanks for explaining it to me! I still haven't gotten my fiddlehead fern yet, but this helps! :celeste_strawberry:
I hope you’re able to get it soon! Good luck!

Thanks, it's literally the LAST thing I need for the community center, and this file is around 4 years old now, haha. Man, and it's such a goofy-looking plant too with a wild name.

In skull cavern with the dinosaur levels as well and Ginger Island in front of Leos tree hut. Or during the Green rain with the funky green swirly trees and ALLssso in the Secret woods i think in fall? (summer or fall one of em)

Shoot, I haven’t made it that far down in the Skull Caverns yet. I don’t think I can actually go to Ginger Island either until I get this plant, and I still haven’t been blessed with the green rain with the funky green swirly trees. I’m pretty sure my best bet would have to be waiting it out until the summer or fall seasons. Still waiting on this forsaken plant, thanks for the advice!

The Green rain i heard happens one day in summer, so for your Fiddlehead fern it would probably be best to wait haha, or try and get as far as possible in the skull cavern and find the green dinosaur levels ORrr if you use mods you couldddd use CJB cheat menu and make the green rain happen by force but i did it once and it makes it a bit funky but it is a option. Good luck haha. :stray_robot:

I see, I think it would be a bit of a disservice to acquire the fiddlehead fern by force, so I guess I’ll just play the long game and wait until the summer. Thanks again for the advice, at the rate this is playing out the plant’s slowly becoming an important milestone of mine.
