but yes I think people should be highly suspicious of WUT studio, makes little sense for someone to dole out, however small the amount, money for fake reviews for free to play games. (I guess technically it could just be an ego-thing but....)
we already know that Valve isn't capable of keeping Steam safe for viruses anymore, if not at launch then post launch... I fully expect that these titles will eventually have malware added to them post launch.
Like.. I have a lot of stuff on steam, but the highest I ever got was 1 per month, without flipping assets etc.
Valve really should make it harder for such people to do this, preferrably without screwing everyone else over.
Also... if I had a store page description as short as those, I would have gotten the store page denied... so much for that. (been there, done that... no way I would get through with it, but apparently those questionable actors do.)
you assume Valve apply any logical thinking when they approve games on Steam, should be pretty obvious by now that they don't bother to check what kind of turds they let on to store.
There's a lot of things Valve could do to make things a bit better for gamers in this regard... for example why are developers allowed to have more than one game in Early Access at any given time?
And yeah what's up with Hard Shark... Digital Homicide style asset flips and fake reviews... another shady dev. It never ends!
As long as its a legit developer, there is zero problem with it.
Sometimes, you just cant force good content and you need to take time to think about stuff, and during that time you can make something else. (I most likely will do smaller (non EA) stuff alongside my future EA thing, for that very reason. Making content just for the sake of making it, to fill a checkbox will result in bad content... but I actually often get the best ideas when not physically working on something.)
but I think that a limit of 2 would be reasonable, anything beyond that is unlikely to work out.
I also think, that 2 should only be allowed for people who have either finished an EA game in the past, or already released something (that is legitimately a game, not a scam) that didnt go up in flames.
But, to hand myself the clown mask here: none of this will ever happen, valve doesnt seem to care about what people do on steam for the most part.
So I guess if the game is free, the direct purchase requirement isn't a factor?
And then if they slap a price on it, the fake reviews stay? Like a way of getting around having to pay Obzor/Mipped as much for the fake reviews?
Early Access is intended for one primary purpose; To enable an amateur/indie developer in financial distress to sell their game before it is complete to raise enough funds to complete the game. The premise is that Early Access allows these games to be completed, otherwise they would never see the light of day.
If a developer has enough money to work on more than one game at the same time, then enters financial distress because of that, then they've mismanaged their budget and they're abusing the principle of Early Access.
seems the idiots didn't realize that the reviews given in the free period gets marked at such retroactively. but yeah it appears the review score stays(though it's pretty obvious it's manipulated, so unlikely to fool anyone.)... whether or not there is some behind the scenes stuff going on where it doesn't count towards surfacing the game in the store.... I'm not sure, but I don't have a whole lot of confidence in Valve at this point
