Community Patch For Sacred 2 I&B
In case there are people that are new or have yet to figure this out, there is a community patch that you can download which fixes a ton of bugs, adds a ton of new stuff and even unlocks the Christmas Island for us to enjoy. I would highly recommend everybody to download and install it.

Here is the link to the German forum you can read up on it, if you cannot read German just translate the website, As i use Google Chrome it will do it for me.

http://forum.sacred2.de/showthread.php?t=70989

Direct download: http://allsacred.ru/cm-patch/cm-patch0140hf.zip

Just run the cm-enable.exe and let it do it's work.

That's it!

Is there anything important I need to know on that link before installing the Community Patch, or is it pretty much an install & play deal? Just picked up Sacred 2 Gold tonight and want to get it rolling. Thanks.

Pretty much install and play deal, there is patch notes you can read up on, and at any time you do not want the patch installed ( or upgrade patches ) just run the cm-disable.exe.

I highly recommend installing the Community Patch. It adds a lot of new set items and uniques, the fun Christmas Island adventure, lightsabers as quest rewards (I can tell you where if anybody's interested), and the ability to click-teleport from the worldmap without having to actually be at a portal. It adds a huge amount of fun and convenience.

EDIT: oops, that click-teleport comes with default Ice and Blood, actually. But you still need the Community Patch for the rest of the new features.

Where do you get the lightsabers as quest rewards? I've found a couple in the shops with bargaining. My bf is playing a sword using temple guardian and would LOVE to have a lightsaber. Actually I would too ^_^

@jessicaceltic, you do have to have the community patch installed for them to be there. Once you have it, there are four lightsaber rewards that I know of.

One is dropped by the alien at the end of the Crop Circles quest chain in the Northwest high elf region.

For the second, go to Wargfels in the human region and talk to the village mayor. He will give you a chain sidequest to talk to the town jester. The jester will send you to a nearby swamp to speak to Yol'dah. Yol'dah will drop a random lightsaber as the reward for the second quest you do for him.

The third is at the end of the werewolf bar chain quest in the far southwest desert region.

EDIT: @x-cessive, below, describes how to get the fourth one. It's the hardest to obtain, but it's a unique, and the best one.

your information is not right. the places u mentioned are right but u dont get the power of nif in the werewolf bar (the right name is twitty tister), u get a random lightsaber there. if u got the power of nif there u just had real luck or it was just a bug. the power of nif is the questreward for the epic office quest. to start the epic office quest u have to get to the jungle portal and in the beginning of the jungle head east, walk around a mountain and into a dungeon with a switch. when u klick on the switch "something wonderful" happens - the door to the ascaron studio near the desert can be opened. (enter the studio through the t-energy swamps between the big sea and the desert). when u take the epic office quest, u have to find all 89 developers. to get the power of nif u DONT need to do that. u just have to go into the south of the orc region and talk to FRANK RENTMEISTER. he is at the place of the ogre miniboss and the ice element miniboss. when u talk to frank, you (and all members of the group) will get the power of nif.

i just use the power of nif and not the first three because power of nif is the strongest and even gives u a percentual willpower bonus. the damage of lightsabers is calculated with willpower and not with strength so the willpower bonus is quite nice. (even more if u use two power if nifs with dualwield as shadow worrior with the willpower buff)

i hope i could help

on that note
may the force be with you

EDIT: I tried to get the power of nif as fast as possible and i only needed 11 minutes. i didnt engage in fights and jumped all the way xD

I could have sworn that Community Patch version 1.2 gives the Power of Nif at the werewolf bar. I have three of them from various runs.

A word of caution: version 1.4hf adds back in the bug where the Gar Colossus can permanently immobilize an inquisitor. The only way to get out of it is to exit the game. (Dying might do it, but I don't let my toons die if I can help it. I teleported out after the bug hit, and he was still immobilized at the teleport site.) I had to disable the Community Patch to get past the bugged Gar Colossus, and then reinstall it.

Also, version 1.4hf removes regional level caps. I don't like that. I want the level caps there.
Thus, I will continue to use version 1.2.

EDIT: hmm, now that I think about it a bit, I remember doing that Frank Rentmeister quest after starting and not finishing the Epic Office quest when I last played a couple of years ago, so you may be right about that. I'll have to check it out again on my current run.

Thank you for the reminder, @x-cessive. Your info is extremely helpful. I would have had a dickens of a time trying to figure out what was going on when I got a random lightsaber drop at the bar. I will correct the posts where I said the wrong thing.

I didn't know about the inq bug but i haven't heard anything about it from my cousin who is playing one so i will ask him too lol, what do you mean regional level caps? server level cap or in the actual game? So far i have yet to see any bugs myself.

Thanks for the info.
x-cessive Jan 7, 2013 @ 10:22am
Regional level caps: the level of the ingame monsters increase only until they reach a specific level. they cant go higher, char level and survival bonus dont matter. the developers wanted the player to roam the map and go on playing in dieffernt areas. The actual CM patch SHOULD have changed it, but it doesnt work. Level caps still exist. (That thing came up in the German forum yesterday and i tested it myself)
Heinrich6745 Jan 7, 2013 @ 10:35am
So level scaling? it doesn't bother me, at least i won't see gray mobs which gets annoying because then i never go back to those regions anymore lol, and i like to explore and take in the sights.
belgarathmth Jan 7, 2013 @ 10:48am
I like having the regional level caps as a reference of when to move on. With no level caps in silver level, my survival bonus maxes out, and I start fighting monsters nine levels higher than my toon, no matter where I am. I could stay in Sloeford on silver level forever, and have no incentive other than boredom to move on.

I also find it a little hard to deal with nine monster levels higher than mine with an inquisitor or dragon mage. My shadow warriors can own monsters nine levels higher than theirs, but I like to close that gap a bit for my squishies.

When I see the monster levels drop closer to mine, I know it is getting time to move on ahead. I like being led by the game in that way. I feel like I am accomplishing something. Plus, I like to uncover the map as completely as possible as I go, because it increases magic find, plus, I'm just kind of OCD that way.

i try to rush silver and gold campaign in most cases to get acces to platin or even niob. it really bothers me when i ´m on a silver server with a lvl 60 char for example and i find a really good item, i could have also found on platin. and since min lvl on platin is 70, i never have issues with level cap.
i also never stay too long in one area. i move on at the latest when there are no sidequests left
belgarathmth Jan 7, 2013 @ 3:04pm
@x-cessive, what is the point of being on platinum and niobium if there are no level caps? Are monsters of the same identical level going to be any stronger?

That is, is a niobium level 150 monster any different from a silver or gold level 150 monster?

If the goal is just to get a character to level 200, then why not just do it on silver level, or even bronze? Why even leave Sloeford?

I know that there are some added sets that won't drop except on certain difficulty levels, but, meh.

Also, there is no more multiplayer. The servers are all permanently deactivated.

EDIT: Just so I'm being absolutely clear, there is no such thing as a "server" any more. That's why your reasoning doesn't make any sense to me.

Belgarathmth, i have to agree with X-cessive as i am the same pretty much, and there is too multiplayer..how do you think many of us are able to play online still? well not be as of these past few days...it's really rough with family problems going on in the house which is why the servers are off right now....have to wait it out to get things back to normal till wed or thurs, i hate sharing my shit -.-
belgarathmth Jan 7, 2013 @ 4:47pm
Okay, but I'm still not sure what you mean. The multiplayer servers I knew about shut down in March of 2012, or I think maybe it was 2011. The only way to do multiplayer that I've heard of with the Steam version was through something called "Tunngle". I admit that I know nothing about that, whatever it is.

Certainly if multiplayer is what you're into, then everything that you and X-cessive say makes perfect sense, because you're trying to be in the same difficulty as your friends.

However, for a single player like me, removing the regional level caps spoils the game. That's why I'm sticking with version 1.20. It looks like the changes in version 1.40hf are catering to multiplayers. And, there's also the issue of the immobilization bug.
