Activity comes and goes. Its the natural flow of life.

We've been in this situation before. Moments where suddenly activity slows down to a crawl. Last year we had a similar dip and Stagger Lee and I were talking about changing things to spark the creative flow of the P2LC users.

Stagger Lee pointed out that these are just moments related to holiday and steam sales, and he was right. People came back and started to participate again. But activity was never back to its full strength, and gotten worse and worse.

Even before summer really started, the competitions had only a few maps with a few votes, and during the past months, it hit rock bottom.

Camerson1313 even posted a screenshot instead of an actual map for the latest competition which confirms to me that people lost interest.

So Stagger Lee and I have decided to finish the running competition for which maps can still be submitted till the end of the month (1 week left) and if there are actually maps being posted, we will also go into the voting stage for the competition.

After that the P2LC activities will stop. We will not organize new competitions. So if you want to have a chance to win the last P2LC competition, now is your chance!

There are currently 2 Bi-Weekly competitions on-going.

The new format is a montly competition. It has been renamed to the PeTI competition. So we have a Hammer and PeTI competition. It made more sense that way.

The PeTI competition starts every 1st of the month, and maps can be made for an entire month. You have to submit your map before 23:59 GMT+0 on the last day of the month. The next month, there are 20 days for voting. The remaining days are used for the winner to announce a new idea for the next competition.

In the past months, I've seen less and less participation in the competitions. Basically the only active competition is the hammer one. The past 2 competitions, I was the only person to enter a map, and the competitions before didn't give the usual 10 maps either.

I understand if people take a break, but it seems people have forgotten the P2LC group exists.

When I founded this group, I did so because one of the things I didn't like in the previous group that I was in, was the fact that there were people in the group who are inactive.

Now, I can understand people being busy with their lives, and therefor being unable to participate in every single event, and no, I don't ask that from you. But the group started over 3 months ago, and we have members in the group that hasn't done a single thing in this group.

If people can be inactive without it having consequences, they'll be in the group, do something and then disappear. As a manager of the group, it is really hard to manage the group on a proactive basis if you can't tell if someone is going to be active or not. You see, if the competitions have a lot of demand and it gradually diminishes, I want to see why this is happening, because I may need to change a few things to keep things interesting. I keep track of what happens in the group, and who is active and who is not, but the more people in the group, the longer it takes for me to track everyone.

For that reason, I ask people who are not going to be active, if they will change that or if they'd maybe want to leave the group. Ontop of this, VALVe has somehow allowed that if you have more than 50 members in the group, you cannot start a private chat with any of the members in the group unless you have them in your friendslist. This complicates things even more.

That said...

The following is addressed to all the members who have joined but have not participated in any of our activities (if you joined recently, don't worry I'll give you plenty of time to show activity.)

I'd like to see a reply from you in this topic to state that you will become active. If I haven't received any form of indication that you're going to be active after monday 20th januari (thats when a new Bi-weekly compo starts) I will be removing those of you who have been in the group for at least 2 months without being part of the group.

If you have sent invites to members who are inactive, you may want to link them to this post, so they can see it.

Please note, if you are being removed from the group due to inactivity, it is okay to be invited back if you want to become active. If you however join and then again become inactive, you will be kicked again, but much sooner without a warning. So make sure you can become active again if you have been kicked.

If you click on the tab "Discussions" you'll see the General Chatter forum. At the right side, there are other sections you can go to. :)
